I'm sure someone must collect these things Plus all my Blues and Soul from No 18 onwards...No copies of 'Home of the Blues' tho - got rid of them in the 1980's Jo Edited March 5, 2007 by vinylvixen

Mark Jones Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 LOVE TO HEAR OPINIONS ON THIS!! Bloody ridiculous would be mine...are we becoming train spotters? Seems a bit sad to me....along with 50 year old blokes wearing tank tops and flares...always gets my back up for some reason. Think I'll stick with the vinyl myself. Then again I might get my old allnighter bag out of the attic and put it on ebay as I wouldn't be seen dead at 42 carrying it anymore......25 year old badges on it or not!

Yes, however the wearing of badges was becoming regarded as somewhat "divvy" at the Catacombs even by the end of 1973, due to the multiple badge retailing activities of The International Soul Club. Wigan revitalised this practice - as it revived so many other "naff" things, like the wearing of baggy trousers and leather coats. (which had gone well out of fashion elsewhere several years earlier! Fact.) Edited March 6, 2007 by mel brat

Guest Jimmy Scriv Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 How much is my avitar worth? This was one of six made by Ernest Flowers Army Badge makers. It has metal work on and each badge had a different colour, mine being light blue, although a little faded now. I only know of 2 others still in existence. It cost me £5 back in 1972.

Neither am i sure about the term original when it comes to badges (I'm better with records). I did go th Phoenix (nights), but he whole decade is something of a blur now. dean
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 That's an original patch from good old Wirrina days everyone who gets them never wants to sell. it was in 1975 one of the top clubs in England and Mr Paul Donnerlly who brought many acts there when Exciters came it was so packed 2 rooms had to opened

A couple of old friends of mine, Pete 'Noddy' Bridgens and Ian 'Ric-Tic' Popple had Catacombs blazer badges specially made C.early 1973, utilising the logo from the membership card. Very nice they were too, but very expensive! Edited March 7, 2007 by mel brat
Guest Polyvelts Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Ages ago a friend gave me a great cats whiskers badge, i sewed it on my bag but to tell the truth I always felt a bit of a fraud cos I'd never actually been !! I guess it all goes under the title of memorabilia and filed away neatly somewhere but that hardly seems the point tho. What next second hand tatoos ?

I read somewhere that certain Japanese gangsters were leaving their SKIN to museums when they die (naturally!), as their all-over tattooed bodies are regarded as a work of art! (Since I appear to be the ONLY person in Britain not to have had any tattoos in recent years, I'm thinking of doing the same! )
