Surprised about Esther Philips,thought it was a £100 record,not £283....

£163 for the Shrine disc,just because it’s Shrine,it don’t mean big bucks......

I don't know how Bileo was a big record at Cleethorpes in 79, as it was finished as an allnighter by late 1976. The local authorities did not want allnighters at Cleethorpes. Only alldayers and soul nights after 1976!

Tommy Navarro was a daft price - one for sale every week on eBay. Esther Phillips issue is roundabout £150 so the demo was not too exorbitant. For a number of records, the price was right so maybe collectors are not going OTT as has been the case in recent years.

Bud Harper b-side is just getting big evidently. I haven’t been to a 100 club all-nighter for over 20 years and it was big then 🤷🏼‍♂️😇😁

(just kidding, John is a top guy)

Remember the night I got my copy Paul? we all drove up in my old Renault 5 and were followed by the rozzers most the way back!! lol.  me doing a very capable 30mph out of London was a miracle really....    at least Bud cost the princely sum of £7, from a certain record dealer on the back wall, who was wearing a skirt...! he was a nice guy though, and his records were always cheap...

On record prices elsewhere, did you all check Chryslers with monarchs band for £900 in the sales section?  made my eyes water...

Not in my book. The stock of EP being much more common I always knew of the promo reaching double the value of the stock. Although that was before with what was mostly a record collector's and dee-jays market prices.

Now that the stocker has boomed up in price (at least since 10 years or more but maybe wearing out finally) the promos maybe NOT as much. Same goes for many other items where the value of the promos have not so much increased...

Since 20 years it has also become a deep pocket amateur revival market where in many examples the promo factor has not the same 'interest' nor it's the reflective price according to the condition taken into account as it was before if ever.

Seeing this fabulous record going for bigger money than here on the eVilBay auctions (a bit crazy really) to see it go for what seem to be the double of the now stabilized price of the stocker this ending price there seems about right IMHO.

Really?  I though he went to Australia.  To be honest, I wondered if he was still with us? He used to wear a  cowboy hat back in Wigan Casino!

My point is they weren't allnighters. People reading it will think that Cleethorpes was still running as an allnigher up till 79!

I enjoyed some brilliant Alldayers and Soul nights in the 70's but they where a different atmosphere to the Allnighters💥. They were mostly alcohol fueled, apart from people coming down after a nighter, so just not the same thing and there should be a definite line mentioned between them!🤔

Can't see why anybody nowadays would keep an eye on his auctions,  unless you have a record on it. As it's most certainly not a way to gauge a value.

Well I went to nighters at the Winter Gardens in 1981. Used to get the bus ran by Sean Hampsey from Sheffield. Love Town by Booker Newbury was a massive record at the time before it charted

Just checked and it was still going as a nighter later than 1981. Booker Newberry was 1983 and another was the Dramatics I Cant Stand It which was 1982 as a new release

Sorry, didn't realise it was the pier that was the talking point, not Cleethorpe's niters in general.

The December 1976 Black Echoes reports different! I can remember this happening. The Pier had closed for allnighters earlier in the year and by November the Winter Gardens was closed for allnighters. Only Alldayers after this in the 70's. IMG-20230220-WA0028.thumb.jpg.43cfbeea3c41cb7258a58f19edfbaf08.jpgIMG-20230220-WA0029.thumb.jpg.70e9fa10e40927c4b2e15b63831d4113.jpg

Good point but I am talking about the Cleethorpes all-nighters run by Mary Chapman from Feb 1975 onwards till Nov 1976. The rest of the 1970's were All-dayers at Cleethorpes. Getting  into the 1980's things changed.

To Be Fair if you go and have a look at Johns description and information on the single and i quote it from it from that,

is that he said,           "It Became An Instant Cleethorpes Dance floor Success"     Thats's it.

He did not mention or Imply  it was an All Nghter Play or An All Dayer Play (although yes, it did get those it's plays on its release)

And that is the only reason i made a point of reply to Solidsouls Post. As we all know Cleethorpes went on long after the Pier All Nighters ended. The Winter Gardens of Course had one or two All Nighters and Regular All Dayers And your usual Northern Soul Nights along the way until it was closed, turned to Rubble and became a Car Park.......Shame

Been some Interesting and Informative replies from members on here including Solidsoul and i thank you all for them all.... Rick 😀
