Patto Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Discusion about this in the pub with a couple of mates...Which was the version played out back in the Day...Was it Mood Mosaic...It must have been a big spin for it to get the Casino Classics Ron Grainer treatment.. Which version is best 1
Frankie Crocker Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Mood Mosaic by a mile. It was the ‘ender’ at Plas Coch Saturday night discos in the late ‘70’s. The Anglesey Soul Crew would fill the floor clamouring for more whilst the Holyhead boozers were staggering off to make sure they had a seat on the free coach. I honestly can’t remember hearing it played out at a major venue back in the day...can’t remember the last time I played the Casino Classic LP’s either - probably not this century, but they’re there just in case I need to. Great tune by the way. 1
Mike Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 always had it down as a very well known uk high street disco type of record, quite a few 60s/70s mainstream radio djs used it as a theme then round about about 1977/78 for some reason it got revived by the 'oldies' crowd/scene that was going on back then and seemed that those who it was all new to lapped it up and gave it a new burst of life also well known in mainland Europe as well, German tv show theme where does this fit in to the story?
Benji Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Was used as theme tune for German TV show "beat club" from 1968 on. Later als for another show but forgot its title. Btw, flipside of orig 45 "bond Street “ is a great mod/r&b instrumental.

Roburt Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Mood-Mosaic version was played in many UK soul clubs in 1966/67 ... the Wheel being one of those. The track was arranged & produced by the 'Teenage Opera' guy -- Mark Wirtz (that song more commonly known as "Grocer Jack, Grocer Jack" by Keith West). 1
Roburt Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) Beat Club used "A Little Bit Of Soul' in 67 ... (1) BeatClub 22 - Intro and Go-Go-Girls - Little Bit O' Soul (1967) - YouTube ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=53NB-mdbz-c Sandy Sargent (of RSG) led the show's dance girls. It then used Bunny Sigler's "Let The Good Times Roll" ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEyj6gqk55E&list=PLYKtjSUVADTbxiochOEi6PGu6HJIssPtf after that it used Otis R's "I Can't Turn You Loose" in 67 ... (1) BeatClub 27 - Intro & Go-Go-Girls (1967) - YouTube ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo2f5_x5IGE AND in 68 it used "Little Girl" by Syndicate Of Sound. then .. "Good News Week" .... (1) BeatClub 37 - Intro & Go-Go-Girls (1968) - YouTube ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCFqIddZboo Then it was back to Otis R & his version of "Shake". The show seemed to change it's theme music most weeks, so no doubt Mood-Mosaic was used one / some weeks around then. Incidentely, Mark Wirtz's guy Keith West performed his song on the show in 1967 (ahead of cutting "Grocer Jack", he'd been lead singer with UK beat group THE IN CROWD). Edited June 19, 2023 by Roburt

Benji Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 They used mood mosaic as theme from 68 on. Even re-released it on 45 due to the popularity of Beat Club. 1
Popular Post Roburt Posted June 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 19, 2023 Mood-Mosaic version is the original & obviously, is far far superior . 4
Paul Collis Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 And Second City Sound had a decent go at it on Major-Minor. Birmingham group maybe?
Theothertosspot Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Mood-Mosaic was used by Dave Lee Travis as his theme tune on pirate Radio Caroline.

Awesome tunes. Great dance music. Up-tempo. Era of the instrumental. Banging tunes 50 years ago...Zola, The Kid, Sea Cruise, The Trip etc. I’ve heard that some of the punters back then were off their trees... Fife Piper was rare in the beginning but sounds tame now; remember the sounds were pioneers of a sort.
Paul Collis Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 Check out King Errison in the Kiss Kiss lounge in the Bond Movie, Thunderball. Awesome.
