Item In Mind Boggling Condition

Whats the strangest conditions you've seen records and their sleeves decribed as. Saw this rather contradictory one just now whilst checking out some LP's on ebay.

THE JACKET IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH CLEAR TAPE ALONG THE TOP AND VERY NOTICEABLE WEAR!

The mind boggles ???

I won't be buying it though !

I'll be putting some LP's up in the sales section middle of next week, mostly £8-£25 items, no big hitters, but all ex to nm.

Could the seller be using Record Collector Magazine's grading system?

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Here's another classic description I just spotted on ebay.

Record is in NEAR MINT MINUS condition !!!

Think i'll start a new trend in grading now, this accuracy thing is driving me nuts. Vinyl playing surface mint, sleeve is excellent divided by the square root of sealed, multiplied by vg+, with small writing on a side label in a neo-gothic typeface, low tack 1cm circular yellow fluorescent bpm sticker on flip, situated at -4 degrees parellel to the record company logo. Please note that the bpm quoted has been miscalculated by its previous owner to a measurement of 0.3 beats slower than reality, but this should not affect the overall enjoyment of this item. Any questions please ask (somebody else preferably).

When RC first got started, this grading was for FAIR condition! Mind you, that was in the days when their lowest grade was BAD. I think it's just POOR now.

Some people once used N/EX, to mean Near Excellent. Wouldn't EX-, or VG+ suffice?

Here's a conversation once overheard at a record fair:

BUYER: How much?

SELLER: £15 - it's Mint.

BUYER: How can you say that - the cover's ripped.

SELLER: Well you don't play the cover, do you?
