Myth or twaddle?

When I was very young, I was told of a collector of soul records who had every Motown or was it Detroit soul record. Nobody really knew him as he had no connection to the northern scene. Most probably, nowhere near the truth, but I often wondered who the mysterious ‘London taxi driver’ was -  Keyser Söze?

His name is Tom Creedon,to my knowledge he collected everything from Detroit,not just soul but pop garage etc.

Some how I got a wants list of Tom's,  it had all sorts of obscure labels with numbers and also known labels with tracks id never heard of. wish i could find it now. I have an idea Gilly knew him and had been to his house years ago

I remember hearing a wild story about a London taxi driver who owned a copy of Frank Wilson, I pesume this is the same person being referred to . . .  ?

think its spelt Tom Creeden  (it is in other posts)

good chance that he may be an active member, as we do have  a member using that name

and if so am sure that he is aware of this topic and will comment if he wishes

but if doesn't want to comment then perhaps it be best if we simply respect his wishes not to comment and leave the topic as it is?

When I was at Anglo American circa early 90's Tom Creeden was a guy that was a old friend of Martin Koppel's (perfect for a Detroit collector, considering Martin probably found as many 45's from that city as anybody else)  who bought Detroit label 45's of all styles.  I can remember packing parcels of the stuff up to send to him, just how complete his collection was I really couldn't say but certainly no Frank Wilson ( the copies of that are well documented and that's all there is) I certainly don't recall mailing out big ticket Northern titles, maybe he already owned them. That aside Tom is one of quite a few private collectors who choose to do it that ways like Mike says we should respect their privacy.

I know the name from my LaBeat days too, like Ted I'm sure I had a Want list, its a long time ago. Like all myth and rumors  these things grow to ridiculous proportions !
