Posted March 2, 200718 yr could not believe it Kenny was on my train from Colchester today, no seats left on the train stood on his own two feet all the way to London and hes getting on a bit!
March 2, 200718 yr Do you mind, he's a quality writer and performer. We've got his 'Puff' (oo-er) on the next Kent Birth Of Soul CD. He was a Brill building type writer with Mort Schuman, Doc Pomus' old partner.
March 3, 200718 yr He lives near my auntie & uncle in Wentworth Surrey, they are good friends. He has hit hard times in recent years, spent all his money. My uncle, Bruce Forsyth & Tarby have all bailed him out & helped paid to get his kids through school. Met him once nice guy.

March 3, 200718 yr Have to say I rather like his song 'Moving Away' ... there is no doubting his song writing talents.

Seriously , I have always had time for KL , music related or not ; always came across as a guy I would like to go for a jotty with . His considerable contribution to popular music unforunately has not been given the recognition it deserves ; as Ady stated , his association with Mort Shuman merits credibility alone . I can recall the showing the film of him singing " Up On The Roof " on the Granada TV programme " People and Places " at the time of release in 1962 . The picture below show KL ( on the left ) at a Ready Steady Go event in 1964 . Top Man , KL Malc Burton Edited March 4, 200718 yr by Malc Burton
March 5, 200718 yr Stateside got the pun but not sure Malc did, but then a lot of people on here seemed to miss the eighties ! It might suprise you to know that KL's 1982 LP is in demand in France and has been for about 5 years or so with the boogie collectors. Thing is tho, no matter how many times i've listened to it, other than Havent Earnt' there isn't one other decent track on it, and they definately aren't buying it for that song I can assure you ! Anyone want to flog me a copy then feel free to contact me. Martin Snow

As for missing the eighties ...... no ; it was in there amongst the 60s , 70s , 90s and 2000s for me . Malc Burton Edited March 5, 200718 yr by Malc Burton
