Anyone enlighten me here? Been after Don Gardner "My Baby Likes to Boogaloo" on Tru-Glow-Town but seen it on two label variants. One is leaf green with a yellow and brown "rainbow" on the top of the label. The other is lighter green with a black arch on the top of the label. One dealer told me the lighter variant was the original. Is he right?

I might be wrong but as far as i know it was released twice on Tru-Glo-Town in 1966 and 1967. 501 was the second release with the rainbow brown/yellow/orange. 1002 was the first release (although i'm not sure why but 501 has 1002 in the run out groove unsure.gif ). Same press different label?

In my opinion they are both originals. One is just an earlier issue.

It was not released with two different catalogue numbers. 1002 and 1001 (for the flipside) are the matrix/master numbers. 501 is the release/catalogue number and it appears on all label variations (I've seen 4 so far, below are 3 of them, plus then there's one with a light blue background).

This was discussed a few years back and the conclusion was that they are different print runs for the label...both original.

Thanks chaps for all the detail - picked up a minter copy on the middle of the three variants from the US for £35 - good times!

Cheers,
