Guest MARTIN SNOW Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Call me sad if you want but I was just filing away a copy of the 1979 Jean Carn When I Find You Love LP when I noticed a bar code on the back. Suspicious it could be a reissue I checked two other copies I had in stock and all had such and were definately originals. Somewhat amazed that bar codes could have existed in 1979 I tried to find the earliest LP I had with such. The only major labels I could find on the case in 1979 were Columbia and surprisingly A&M. Atlantic/Warner and RCA werent even doing it by 1981 at a glance ! So could there be an earlier Columbia item than 36196 I aksed myself ? The more I looked, the lower the number went down, Lonnie Liston, Cheryl Lynn, Tom Scott, until eventually I got down to 36129 Steve Khan Arrows also from 1979. Can anyone better that ? Reagarding A&M, I did start looking but soon realised there really are better things to do in life ! However I would suggest that this represents an ideal opportunity for Gary Lee to occupy himself one afternoon making the relevant investigations via his shelves ? No I haven't stood on Crewe Station recently.
