Soulfulsolutions Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) Another nice selection of classy Northern, all of which have stood the test of time and tastes. Happy to provide additional images or sound files. PM any questions or to reserve. Earl Jackson – Soul self-satisfaction – ABC 11142 WD M- £850 SOLD (Right up there with most recognisible Northern monsters, lovely copy) Bunny Sigler – For crying out loud – Decca 31880 Promo M- £200 SOLD (Solemn yet intoxicating beat and melancholy lyrics, superb, lovely of the pink promo) Willie Hutch – Love runs out / The duck – Dunhill 4012 WD Vg £1600 (Awesome tunes, bang on Northern, probably right up here as one of the top must have 2 siders. Ideal for DJ-ing. Plays better than it looks, just a few light pops. Price reflects condition) Tonettes – I’ve gotta know / My heart can feel the pain – Dynamics 103 Ex+ £125 SOLD (San Antonian double sider, the top side upbeat, the flip subtle mid-tempo. More than one reference to Tonettes online, not sure if one and the same) Billy Watkins – Ice-man – Era 3183 Promo Ex £125 (Catchy vocals on this simple dancer, punctuated by cute girly backing. Small dot sticker and no6 on top label) Squires – Don’t accuse me – Gee 1082 WD Vg+ £80 SOLD (Superb group soul, 45 is used, but far from abused, looks Vg+ but plays a nice Ex) Image on request, exceeded maximum! Stewart Ames – Angelina, oh Angelina / King for a day – J&W 1000 Vg+ £1250 (Former lead of Motown’s Valadiers serves up a wonderful Detroit double sider. The raucous ‘Angelina’ on a driving beat, the downbeat ‘King’ that shares the same backing track as Jock Mitchells ‘No mad woman’. Glossy vinyl, visible surface marks hence Vg+, any audible pops barely noticeable on these pounding productions, playback is a fantastic Ex+. Mild ring wear, otherwise clean labels) Stemmon’s Express – Woman, love thief – Karma 201 Ex+ £700 SOLD (Fabulous northern track, very sought after and this copy in top shape. Slightly off-centre label) Belles – Don’t pretend – Mirwood 5055 M- £175 SOLD (Classic west coast girl group dancer. The rich Mirwood blue label is something to behold, especially in such great shape) Fran Jefferies – Gone now – Monument 1089 WD M- £100 SOLD (Superb sultry femme soul) Eddie Holland – I’m on the outside looking in – Motown 1049 WD M- £125 (Lovely copy of this powerhouse Hitsville release) Christine Cooper – Heartaches away my boy – Parkway 983 WD M- £475 SOLD (Love the composition of this track, Northern perfection, floats and bounds along in the same breath, just imagine this being played for the first time) Tobbi Bowe – I can feel him slipping away – Patheway 103 Promo Ex £550 (It appears this big production girly backed Hollywood release is a cover of the Mamie Lee, MGM track. Ignore the flip title “groovy feeling” its as far away as Soul can be from flower power, brilliant dancefloor track. Remained hard to find. Small sticker dot on either side, highlighter circle on. Some nearly inaudible pops) Al Jarreau – Shake up – Raynard 10024 M- £700 (Love this, bags of oomph, rare number has potential to fly when the right DJ gets behind it) Carolyn Cooke – I don’t mind – RCA 8553 WD Ex £125 SOLD (Fabulous soulful dancer for such an early number of this massive label. S slight edge lift, that does not affect play) Jimmy & Vella Cameron – Loving you is such a groove – Reprise 0483 M- £800 (Frantic but brilliant dance floor destroyer, ticks all the boxes. On the much rarer and beautiful STOCK label. When you gonna see one of these again.? Condition, condition, condition) Edwin Starr – Agent OO Soul – Ric-Tic 103 WD Vg+ £250 (Single sided demo, a lovely way to collect the label and of course an anthem. Show sighs of use, but nothing that causes any audible deterioration, it’s a solid Ex player) Anita Humes & Essex – What did I do – Roulette 4542 WD Ex+ £80 (Classic girl group dancer. Some minor dabs of tippex on labels, mainly covering 2 blue x’s on flip) Image on request, exceeded maximum! Stan Deveraux & Trendsetters – Sad tomorrows – Sujay 102 Ex £300 (Lovely tune, smooth vocals with punchy bursts, rare semi-known, appears to be a one-off label, Stan was from Phoenix, Arizona so assume it originates from there. Small xol) Padded Cell – Mister misery – Toddlin’ Town 110 Ex+ £125 SOLD (Great oldie, in great shape) Image on request, exceeded maximum! Wade Flemons – That other place – Vee-Jay 614 M- £175 (Never forget tuning into this on the Charly tapes, awesome beat ballad, fabulous on stock copy, prime condition) PayPal by friends or add 4% please, or bank transfer.
