I bought a DJ bench thing from Ikea, great for LPs... So, I have another room with 45's in, but I need to make room in a corner of this one, for I guess about 1000 45's... see below pic. I want something that isn’t too high as well if I can get away with it... Any ideas for an off the shelf solution? pls excuse the pun... Malc This is the Ikea DJ shelving thingy I got... looks the business, great for LP's and 12's, except that top shelf for 45's, is 1cm too short to fit them....what’s ridiculous is that lady actually has a pile of 45's in the promo shot... stick with the record boxes kids! Solution Tony Clements Posted February 15, 2023 Solution Posted February 15, 2023 The Billy shelves do come in half height - see item 202.638.30. For the corner unit you are buying 3 shelving units say 202.638.30 and one set of corner fittings 401.041.09. Your problem with the low shelves is that the top will be open. It is also open with the taller units you just can't see that it is. Bring up the corner fittings (you might need to hover over the pic of the fittings and then click on the shelf unit that appears, scroll down, click the product details and then the assembly and documents and open up the instructions, you'll then see how the corner unit works. You'll also realise that you only need to use the 40cm wide for the unit in the corner, the others can be 40 or 80 wide. 1
Happy Feet Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Most of the shelving as long as not too much , can be altered , I recently altered the Kallax 1820 x1820 unit , removing the top 6 left compartments, plugging the holes with left over dowel pegs , in order to house my TV , you'd never know , and looks purpose bought . It was the mock ply version with grey shelving/ sides etc . Waited almost 18 months for it to come back into stock following lockdown, but worth the wait . 1
