Solidsoul Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) Sometimes when I've heard a record played loud in a venue it sounds great. So much better than at home! Can't believe I've had it my collection for years! Like this Jimmy Robbins! I remember when Wade Flemmons "Jeanette" was cheap and how different/better it sounded played loud in a venue Any had that effect on you? Edited January 29, 2023 by Solidsoul 1
Happy Feet Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Wombat "I'm Getting On Life " still got a copy , played it numerous times, never sounds the same , probably a Cat's tune massive WC ,circa 74 , doesn't do it for me no matter how loud it's played nowadays.
Julianb Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I don't get out much to soul events but heard Cresa Watson - Salvation played by Ted Massey on Saturday. I sounded bloody awesome 1

Soulmark Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Vanguards lamp records good times fantastic tune great at a big venue 1
Torch56 Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Wombat: A Max play from the Catacombs, late summer 1973. It was very popular, though, personally, I couldn't stand it. To think he could have played the Tempos or Superlatives and instead this was filling the floor. Also, it seemed to go on forever, which compounded the frustration.

Mal C Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Trade Martin on Stallion sounds thunderous in big venues, but then we all know that! Get IN!! 1

I find some records are All-nighter records Then some suit Soul/night evenings better Then there are some that work in both! Edited January 31, 2023 by Solidsoul 2
Geeselad Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Narbay sounded awesome at Keele. Great to hear boss four at Swinton over Xmas, remember this being a mainstay of butch's set's when I first got into northern, definitely one that benefits from a big room. https://youtu.be/s9OzGRiHWh8 2
