In the immortal lyrics of Ernie K. Doe here come the Girls, Girls, Girls …… some absolute corkers here, so be quick if you’re looking for something to chase away the blues.

Happy to send sound files on request, PM to ask questions or reserve.

Always a quick turnaround for dispatch, but overseas beware of the Royal Mail situation, that’s slowly easing. Can hold til pay day if it helps.

Towanda Barnes – You don’t mean it – A&M 1141 M- £550 SOLD

(Firm favourite with the masses, many will have a demo, but the super rare and attractive stocker is still quite elusive, stunning copy)

IMG_E3667.thumb.JPG.bcd61b9682cdc0886e04765791db7cdf.JPG

Charnessa & Charmettes – Personal woman / I can feel my love coming down – Atco 6836 M- £300

(Great funk edged sister soul, Sam Dees penned, recorded at Sound of Birmingham Studios, Alabama, well under the radar, a rarer Atco release indeed, minor edge lift, plays fine)

IMG_E3708.thumb.JPG.52d655cfee9fded64ad3fad0e2369830.JPG

Thelma Jones – Mr fixit – Barry 1024 WD M- £50 SOLD

(Boisterous funky feel to this Hammond backed dancer, great femme soul flip, lovely demo copy)

IMG_E3698.thumb.JPG.e3cb1fd524b804debb733594e1871dae.JPG

Bobbie Smith – You know I’ll be around – Bell 628 M- £250

(Bobbie and my fave Azie Mortimer like peas in a pod, beautiful catchy dreamy vocals, pristine copy)

IMG_E3699.thumb.JPG.9b6721a4b5dfd7a22ce21206bc778946.JPG

Bonnie Herman – Hush don’t cry – Columbia 43833 WD M- £250 SOLD

(Another heavenly lilting girly vocal, that’s been a must have in this Major labels catalogue forever. Sounds as good today as it did when it first surfaced. Spotless, bar a date on flip label)

IMG_E3682.thumb.JPG.e1fca9cdb6ad61b8478b90fe1a2ecca0.JPG

Yvonne Vaughn – When you gonna tell me about her – Dot 16791 M- £450 SOLD

(Outstanding tune, gifted to us by the talented Page brothers, Billy and Paul. Released on this Hollywood label in 65 before she changed her name to Donna Fargo for the Country scene. Minor edge lift DNAP. Clean copy)

IMG_E3681.thumb.JPG.6a676a574f77206152fdcd533fe49bfa.JPG

Tonettes – I’ve gotta know / My heart can feel the pain – Dynamics 103 Ex+ £130

(San Antonian double sider, the top side upbeat, the flip subtle mid-tempo. More than one reference to Tonettes online, not sure if one and the same)

IMG_E3676.thumb.JPG.bd90375848f96d353118a793af7b84cd.JPG

Debonaires – How’s your new love treating you – Golden World 38 WD M- £80 SOLD

(Detroit perfection, nuff said. Radio station stamp on label)

IMG_E3683.thumb.JPG.dc52a11d69375ab2f7d4c7ed31bbc268.JPG

Otisettes – In your arms I’m gonna stay – Jonco 52 M- £600

(Stunning lowrider on the top side and a sultry slowie on the flip. The Jonco label belonged Johnny Otis, the girls were his in-house TV show band. Gorgeous copy. And very hard to acquire)

IMG_E3647.thumb.JPG.e7320b9e2ea24b1dfe59b6fc6a093026.JPG

Norma & Heartaches – Nice and slow – Joy Ride 1030 Ex- £400

(Infectious femme crossover from a virtually unknown group that I can track down to jamming at a Marquette, Michigan Corpswomen event! Published by Moon Man Pub. Norristown, PA. Made it to the Sound of the Grapevine CD Vol2, but is still very much under the radar?)

IMG_E0086.thumb.JPG.17795fb5c92e7c975f11347cde244510.JPG

Kavetts – I’ve got to tell you a story – Lendre 101 DJ Ex+ £575

(Some big names surround this early 60s femme R&B 45, including Karl Tarleton, Richard Parker and Andre Williams all prolific on the Chicago scene. Same group as the Okeh release, but no other outings?)

IMG_E3705.thumb.JPG.053b7f7d5669076c45d3f9d3376b072d.JPG

Dottie Cambridge – Cry your eyes out – MGM 13846 M- £130

(Staple Northern dancer on a stocker, that kaleidoscope MGM always catches my eye)

Exceeded upload allowance - Image on request

Tobi Lark – I’ll steal your heart – Palmer 500 WD Ex- £300

(The delectable Tobi Legend, what an artist, some fabulous Detroit outings, this one a cheeky dancefloor blinder. Rarer white demo, some surface marks that DNAP, so grading is visual, it plays great at Ex+)

IMG_E3689.thumb.JPG.ca2f30f36f93518a982396d7573f9f59.JPG

Flirtations – How can you tell me – Parrot 10028 M- £30

(Glorious double sider on a tasty label)

IMG_E2671.thumb.JPG.6b9a8eb40f768951f3633ca65098cb98.JPG

Tobbi Bowe – I can feel him slipping away – Patheway 103 Promo Ex £575

(It appears this big production girly backed Hollywood release is a cover of the Mamie Lee, MGM track. Ignore the flip title “groovy feeling” its as far away as Soul can be from flower power, brilliant dancefloor track. Remained hard to find. Small sticker dot on either side, highlighter circle on. Some nearly inaudible pops)

Peggy March – If you loved me – RCA 9494 YD M- 8SOLD

(Been around forever, so call it an anthem, one of many collectable RCAs)

Exceeded upload allowance - Image on request

Tawny Reed – Needle in a haystack – Red Bird 10044 WD M- £200

(Excellent cover of the Velvelettes winner on a fabulous white demo, suits the Mod scene with a classic Hammond organ break, incessant stuff. Small sticker residue on label)

IMG_E3694.thumb.JPG.36e17ec14f51f4e9b009587124373671.JPG

Jimmy & Vella Cameron – Loving you is such a groove – Reprise 0483 M- £800

(I know, I know, only ½ is Girl, but it’s the best place to put it. Frantic but organised Soul banger that ticks all the boxes. Top condition and on the rarer stock. Awesome)

IMG_E3664.thumb.JPG.61c16182851ee75da67bc4f8408928ec.JPG

Rose Battiste – Hit and run / I miss my baby – Revilot 204 WD Ex £600 SOLD

Naomi Wilson – Gotta find a way – Swan 4727 WD M- £100 SOLD
