On the face of it, perhaps one of the obvious sources of potential information would have been the producer of the record , Tom Nixon,  who had a reasonable amount of success with Stax Records in Memphis in the early 70's, in particular with the Stax subsidiary We Produce label with producer/songwriter Josephine "Jo" Bridges and The Temprees.

Nixon, incidentally, also spent time at Motown in the 60's and co-wrote Earl Van Dyke's legendary "6 By 6" !

The problem is that Tom Nixon is a real mystery man. Other than when his name and Jo Bridges' name came to the public's attention briefly in 2008 when Alicia Keys had a hit with a sample of an old Temprees record which he and Bridges wrote, virtually nothing is known about him personally. His producing and song writing credits appear to have ceased by the mid 70's when Stax went under; that is, except for The Innersection record (which most would agree sounds post 1975 at least) and another obscure release by a female artist in 1978. After that, nothing.

In fact, in his book Soulsville USA, author Rob Bowman states "Tom Nixon was the only major figure at Stax who over the course of eleven years of research I was unable to locate ...".

And sadly, Jo Bridges only passed away last month in December 2022 at the age of 74. She may have been a  mine of information not only about Nixon and possibly Innersection but also Stax Records as she was a fairly prominent figure in the Stax operation.

So, hopefully, someone on here can come up with some information on Innersection and the group 5 label ...

Well here's something.

The 12 July 1975 issue of Billboard Magazine actually carries a brief review of the Innersection record ... and it's a positive review at that. At least this now gives a fairly close release date for the record ...
