Guest WorcSoulSurvivor Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 (edited) Hi all, Dont know whether you get this but, most events nowadays give you disks on the door, sure some put loads of effort into doin them. while others don't. Mixing tracks that don't necessarily go together or sound exactly the same. Wot do you think about this? Ben Edited February 25, 2007 by WorcSoulSurvivor
Guest Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 I think it's great, and I don't look a gifthorse in the mouth
Tabs Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 A lot of the CD's I get are for special occasions, eg anniversaries, new venue etc. I find they tend to promote the type of venue they are promoting. Consequenlty an across the board will contain a mixture of sounds which won't neccessarily gell togeteher. As Soul Girl says don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If a CD only contains 2 tracks I haven't heard then its a winner. Best Tabs
Guest Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 One of the more recent freebies that blew me away was compiled by the Soul Commando's - some fantastic tunes and one particular track which even now I can't decide if I love it or Hate it so I have to keep playing it ... Lindsay and I burst out laughing when we heard it but it's been played to death in our cars It was from their 2nd Anniversary night and I've got it on my site here: https://www.thesoulgirl.com/music/andromeda...versary+Sept+06 In particular, I'm talking of the Joanne Touchstone - Walk Softy track
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 It seems a good idea but then many times it will contain stuff you could get elsewhere easy. Wouldn't it be nice to try and do unreleased stuff added to the CD's or best idea is classic sounds played from that club like if you go to The Fleet here or somewhere and they give a cd of stuff that was popular years ago at the club
Corbett80 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 (edited) Loads of great hard to hear tracks on the VaVaVoom NYE disc, particularly off Karl Marthon, Jon & Ali Nightingale, Yann and Al. Edited February 26, 2007 by mulf

Biggordy Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I only have about 10 of these but they're a great memento of the night that you just had. Also as has been said they often contain a nice selection of across the board sounds. Regards Gordy
