Happy New Year to one and all.

The start of a new year means the start of a new photo thread. This is the 11th photo thread, which is rather remarkable and a testament to its continued popularity. Thanks to everyone who contributed pics last year, and thanks too to the many who participated by liking or commenting on images.

Here's a pic I took from our balcony a few days ago. The house opposite is being renovated and the builders put together some lights on the side of the house. It says "Prettige Feestdagen" in Dutch, which translates as "Happy holidays", or at this time of the year, "Merry Christmas".

Here's to lots of great photos in 2023!

That baby is very disconcerting... 😕

here is a picture of another body sculpture made in Soap, which degrades with time and weather, taken in Santiago De Compostela a few years back. I did look for the arms, I guess they assumed the arms would go first, so they didnt include them,  that said who would steal the arms? lol

Never had the pleasure of seeing them in your part of the world but have seen similar if smaller displays around Spalding in the Fens in the past.

Must admit I didn’t know tulip fields existed in the UK. Fantastic to see wherever they may be!

I assume they started around the time the Fens were drained by Cornelius Vermuyden in the 1630s ... ?

Thanks for the links. A comment in the first suggest the tulip fields are few and far between now, with somewhere near Kings Lyn being the best place to go.

Had forgotten about the Spaulding Flower Parade. My other half made some props for the parade maybe 12 years ago and was interviewed on local BBC radio in the run up to it. They liked the idea that a Lincs-born lady who now lived and did business from NL was making stuff for the parade.

Nearly right - Koningshof. There are a number of places with Koningshof in it. Was it a Europarc, and when did you come over?

It was about 2016...in my Eriba. I visited Delph (again probably spelling incorrect? is Delft?) the pottery folks, and visited by bike (from Koningshof) the University town of L....?

Delft is correct on both counts (the ‘t’ is emphasised). Delftsblauw [Delft’s blue] is the porcelain, and the city, Leiden - and they’re both lovely places.

Well after much deliberation and research I've bitten the bullet macro lens-wise and just received a used , but perfect Laowa 100mm F/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO and a Godox V350-C Flashgun to accompany it.

If anyone needs me I shall be found on my hands and knees in the undergrowth hunting tiny critters ...

I've an acre to play in here , all greenery of a multitude of types , so "endless" sums it up quite well and it'll be a great excuse to let things get a little unkempt for a while ...
