Amsterdam Russ Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Happy New Year to one and all. The start of a new year means the start of a new photo thread. This is the 11th photo thread, which is rather remarkable and a testament to its continued popularity. Thanks to everyone who contributed pics last year, and thanks too to the many who participated by liking or commenting on images. Here's a pic I took from our balcony a few days ago. The house opposite is being renovated and the builders put together some lights on the side of the house. It says "Prettige Feestdagen" in Dutch, which translates as "Happy holidays", or at this time of the year, "Merry Christmas". Here's to lots of great photos in 2023! 3

Mal C Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 (edited) That baby is very disconcerting... here is a picture of another body sculpture made in Soap, which degrades with time and weather, taken in Santiago De Compostela a few years back. I did look for the arms, I guess they assumed the arms would go first, so they didnt include them, that said who would steal the arms? lol Edited March 15, 2023 by Mal C 2

Popular Post Djr Posted April 16, 2023 Popular Post Posted April 16, 2023 (edited) I returned from Venice this past Wednesday after a week there visiting my sister. Fairly busy there for Easter Sunday and the day after but overall had a really good time. Turn down a side street and there's quite some views, or enter a church to witness every inch of the interior covered in religious-ness. Edited April 16, 2023 by Djr 6

Popular Post Woodbutcher Posted May 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 2, 2023 Just had a first play with a pretty extreme macro set up using bits I had kicking about . An old 50mm f1.8 lens reverse mounted on a spare 75-300 zoom with a £4.00 adapter gets me in a little too close for general stuff but for the task I had in mind it'll do well. Amsterdam Russ Posted May 3, 2023 Author Posted May 3, 2023 Nearly right - Koningshof. There are a number of places with Koningshof in it. Was it a Europarc, and when did you come over?

Thanks for the links. A comment in the first suggest the tulip fields are few and far between now, with somewhere near Kings Lyn being the best place to go. Had forgotten about the Spaulding Flower Parade. My other half made some props for the parade maybe 12 years ago and was interviewed on local BBC radio in the run up to it. They liked the idea that a Lincs-born lady who now lived and did business from NL was making stuff for the parade. 1

Delft is correct on both counts (the ‘t’ is emphasised). Delftsblauw [Delft’s blue] is the porcelain, and the city, Leiden - and they’re both lovely places.
