Absolutely delighted to be returning to Colour One Tear Black on 8th Jan 2023 at the Paradiseafter a brilliant session last time!

In fact I got so excited I got a bit carried away and put together an epic 3 hour special which is proving very popular on Mixcloud above plus the previous one below if you missed it.

This event is very much one for serious Rare Soul Vinyl Collectors & Soul Connoisseurs. Sweet Soul, Steppers & Low Rider business all the way! So this is reflected in the mix just to give you a taster of what to expect from myself and the others...

With the added bonus of an award winning restaurant with one of the finest Sunday Roasts in London! What's not to like. Really hope to see some of you down there again and a good excuse to get out of the house after the Christmas break...

⁷Just listened to the hour show, while having my monthly bath (taken regardless of needed or not) veerry nice listen !!!

Amongst others, good to hear Odds Against Tomorrow, Point of no return being played out by someone, a few years ago I said, like many others, it will disappear from the face of the earth, surprisingly though, it is still accessible, used to listen to the Solar shows when Junior was guesting, always a good listen 👍

Hey Kev, Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and for your kind words. Very much appreciated. If next month you fancy a 3 hour soak I hope you will equally enjoy the most recent one.

Love Odds Against Tomorrow. Very under rated tune.

Thanks

Greg Belson Set at Color One Tear Black in June 2023. Some seriously Rare Killer Gospel Sweet & Deep Soul. Steppers and Lowrider Rolas.

On Sunday 9th July, Color One Tear Black welcomes two of the UK’s leading-edge soul collectors, namely Chris 'Huggy' Huggins, and Andy Etheridge.

Anyone into the deeper and sweeter side of soul music will know that these guys have played at all the top events for the genre, and it’s true to say that their reputations really do precede them. Chris has spun at COTB in the past, and those lucky enough to have heard his 45s selection will understand how special this is. As if that weren’t enough, Andy Etheridge will also guest alongside Chris, in what will be a must-hear session for true soul connoisseurs.

For those that missed Color One Tear Black Soul Club with Chris Huggins & Any Etheridge. Killer Sets!!!

Next one on Sunday 13th August, Color One Tear Black welcomes Chris Peckings for his first guest spot, and COTB extended-family member, Yann Vatiste, back.

Chris Peckings musical history goes way back. In the 1950s his father George ran with Coxsone Dodd in West Kingston, Jamaica, years before Coxsone's first recordings at 13 Brentford Road, home of his Studio One label. George moved to London in 1960 and was then single-handily responsible for getting Coxsone-produced 45s into the hands of London’s sound system owners and operators. In 1974 he opened the legendary Peckings record shop at 142 Askew Road, Shepherd's Bush, West London. Now at 81 Askew Road, the shop is still going strong today, and is run by Chris and his brother Duke. Chris, like so many Jamaican music men also has deep love and knowledge of soul music, especially two step and group harmony, the root of rocksteady. We are very much looking forward to his selection.

Yann Vatiste is a stalwart of the London soul scene, and the man behind the Soul Devotion and Va Va Voom. In the last few years, Yann’s Epsilon label has consistently issued incredible ‘lost’ soul music, which is either previously unreleased or ultra-rare. It’s always an education when Yann plays.

COTB residents Claire Kalvis, Jim Edwards, David Hill and JM will also be spinning alongside Chris Peckings and Yann Vatiste on 13th August.

Set up in February 2016 by Thierry Cochet, AKA Dr. Kruger (nts radio), Color One Tear Black celebrates group harmony, mellow steppers, sweet and deep soul music, all played on original issue vinyl by resident DJs Dr Kruger, Claire Kalvis, Jim Edwards, David Hill, JM and monthly guests.

COTB runs on the second Sunday of each month at The Paradise, 19 Kilburn Lane, London. W10 4AE.

Here is something a a bit different. The children have the 'Boiler Room' video platform! But for us adults and serious music people there is a wonderful platform with an incredible array of diverse sounds from across the world. Plenty to discover.  Strictly Vinyl on an audiophile system from those with a real passion for music, for connoisseurs. Here is my attempt to represent 'our' music we play at Color One Tear Black - Sweet, Deep, Steppers, Lowrider & Gospel. Hope you enjoy. It was a nightmare to chose 45mins from thousands of records.

Recorded on Sunday 8th October.Special guests Wax Poetics' David Holt for his debut session joined by COTB regular, Mark ‘Daddy Bones’ Allbones.

Wax Poetics has been the Black-music bible for vinyl diggers since its launch in 2001. Twenty years in, and the original team had grown weary, so London-based David Holt stepped in with a Kickstarter-funded campaign and took the reins. Since the relaunch under his stewardship, Wax Poetics has seen a return to the enthusiastic, in-depth coverage of music that we love, and each issue goes from strength to strength.
