Owd Codger
Apologies if this has been raised before, but does anybody know if Robert Walker (The Blizzard/ Stick to me) RCA was the Motown Robert Walker ( Staunton & Walker) ? thanks Link to comment Social source share
Solution Andy Rix Posted October 17, 2022 Solution Share Posted October 17, 2022 (edited) I'm not convinced they were the same person If you check BMI ...https://repertoire.bmi.com/Search/Catalog?num=00YdWa%2bv%2bpEFuy5tPyt6rw%3d%3d&cae=twuaHqwnbKLf9JqQZbcZOg%3d%3d&partType=WriterList&search={"Main_Search_Text"%3A"the blizzard"%2C"Sub_Search_Text"%3A""%2C"Main_Search"%3A"Title"%2C"Sub_Search"%3Anull%2C"Search_Type"%3A"all"%2C"View_Count"%3A100%2C"Page_Number"%3A0%2C"Part_Type"%3Anull%2C"Part_Id"%3Anull%2C"Part_Id_Sub"%3Anull%2C"Part_Name"%3Anull%2C"Part_Cae"%3Anull%2C"Original_Search"%3Anull%2C"DisclaimerViewed"%3Anull}&resetPageNumber=True&partIdSub=YO0HedHMatLb45JzS23DVw%3d%3d You'll see the Motown guy was Robert Simon Walker .. and the RCA guy was Robert G Walker .. it's not that unusual to see BMI merge, and therefore confuse, two different songwriters with very similar names Andy Edited October 17, 2022 by Andy Rix typo Link to comment Social source share
Owd Codger
Thanks Andy. The Staunton - Walker team ( with Jones and Dobyne) seem to disappear after Motown (65 ish)....unless somebody knows anything of their career after Motown. I know Robert Dobyne had later 45s Link to comment Social source share
Andy Rix
I've messed up .. defective reading skills .. humble pie being eaten as I type Robert Simon Staunton Robert G Walker So it might be the same guy Last contact details I had for Staunton he was living in L.A. .. but never managed to 'catch' him I'll dig some more A Link to comment Social source share
Owd Codger
I read a post on youtube linked to a Robert Walker track...The Blizzard I think. The poster claimed to be the composer on the track, and talks of travelling from Detroit to New York, recording the track with musicians "live"....and not done the Motown way .....ie multi tracked . So the Detroit connection may refer to the same Robert Walker. I'll try to find it again. Link to comment Social source share
Owd Codger
The guy is called Flery Robertson and he states he was asked to play piano for the S-W team. He says Staunton went to LA...and he worked with Walker. So the RCA Walker does indeed appear to be Motown's S-W. Link to comment Social source share

There is a (https://www.discogs.com/artist/3810236-Fiery-Bursey) also written as Flery Bursey- AND- the other writer on stick with me is Walter Fields (https://www.discogs.com/artist/1016441-Walter-Fields). Both have Motown connections. 1 Link to comment Social source share
