Popular Post Ian Parker Posted September 13, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 13, 2022 legend .. a guy who fused jazz & soul , to give us a sound track of dance music. Wade in the Water , is a staple of soul clubs, every where, but this little ditty, takes me back to the Bali Hai, downstairs at Nottm palais, late 70's / 80. the fabulous colaboration with Stevie Wonder . Spring High RIP , a musical genius 4 1

Chris Turnbull Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Can't think of many artists I've spent as much time listening to over the years - from being blown away when I first heard 'Wade in the Water' at Tommy Smith's Birch nights at Ashton Manchester early 90's, the fabulous 'Hurt so bad' being the background music on Richard Searling's show for years ("next Saturday night at the Chadderton Bowling Club, Oldham", etc), through Spring High and so many others - never far from my turntable. Thank you Sir for all the wonderful music - here's a particular favourite of mine:- 1
Mickey Finn Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 The Guardian has a decent evaluation of his contribution here: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/sep/14/ramsey-lewis-butt-shakers-toe-tappers-jazz-people 1
Chris Turnbull Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Good post that Mickey, also with a link to a recent piece on Charles Stepney 1
Mickey Finn Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Another decent obituary from Malcolm at Soul Brother: https://soulbrother.com/feature/ramsey-lewis-an-obituary/
Dayo Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 How many of of us learned to shuffle at the local youth club to Wade in the Water? RIP legend. 2
