Inez Foxx, best remembered for 'Mockingbird' cut with her brother Charlie Foxx and released on Sue in 1964 has passed away.  Whilst 'Mockingbird' was their biggest success there were a slew of excellent releases throughout the rest of the 1960s including  'Tightrope' on Dynamo which I recall being played at The Britannia Boat Club in Nottingham.

Classic Wheel sound - I remember Brian Rae use to play it in the theatre room at St Ives all-nighters also Mr Ms sound - classic underplayed oldie - RIP classic soul sound that will live on - timeless 👍🏻👍🏻

On my first visit to the Wheel in January 1970, I got off the Glasgow train in Manchester Victoria and headed to William Smith’s stall where I found two beautiful Inez and Charlie albums. Never forgot that moment.

RIP Inez, one hell of a singer.

Saw them perform 'Tightrope' live at Bradford Gaumont on the same bill as the Rolling Stones. Still got the programme somewhere!

I saw Inez & Charlie at The Wheel in the late 1960s - absolutely brilliant! They blew the roof off - I was there just about every weekend in the latter half of the 60s & they were easily one of the best bands I saw there. RIP Inez xx😪

Tightrope of course speaks for itself , parts of that disc make me feel I am actually there on the Tightrope with her .      The one I feel never quite gets its recognition is "No Stranger to love "  For me , this is an all time classic ,Hauntingly Atmospheric , perfect vocal delivery , full sound .        Rest In Peace .

Sad news indeed. "Come By Here" was one of the the first Soul albums I bought that wasn't either Motown or a Various artsist's LP. Picked up at the Shell Garage on Haydock Island in the 70's with the corner cut off.  R.I.P Inez.
