Dave West Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Have the Chi Lites ever had a record played on the Northern/ Modern scene ?
Tobytyke Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Love Bandit / Pretty Girl on UK beacon had a few spins in the past. 1
Solidsoul Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) "She's Mine" - The Chi-Lites- Blue Rock. Edited September 7, 2022 by Solidsoul 3
Popular Post Alan T Posted September 7, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) Chi-Lites - Try My Side Of Love has had plenty of plays in modern soul sets. Eugene Record was a great singer and one of the best writer / arrangers around. Edited September 7, 2022 by Alan T 5
Mickey Finn Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Changing for you (1983) was a popular spin for a while in modern rooms and on the jazz funk scene in its later years 3
Dave Pinch Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Too numerous to mention really on various aspects of the scene but love bandit and she’s mine in the main on the northern scene 1
Popular Post Smudger Posted September 7, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) When temptation comes superb modern soul https://youtu.be/EuizfApa2ME Edited September 7, 2022 by Smudger 4
Steve Thompson Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Album track only I think, but would have thought their version of Gerald Sims - Bet You'll Never Be Sorry would have featured in 70's/ modern rooms. 2
Dave Pinch Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Go away dream becoming popular in the side rooms and Sunday soul of late 2

Popular Post Still Diggin Posted September 7, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2022 I was actually playing some uptempo early eightees material from them the other evening, and forgot how good 'love love love' was, came on the flip to 'Fan the fire'. It made me think just how inept much of this eightees boogie new release soundalike shite that's getting ramed down our throats actually is. Some folks need to remember how good some of the soulfull end of what was new release club music actually was. 6
Popular Post Seano Posted September 7, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2022 I've always rated this one, though don't know that it ever got played out: 10
Sebastian Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 "Runnin' Around", a fabulous LP-only track from 1984, has had some spins: 2
Sutty Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Heavenly Body Heavenly Body was a massive 2-step track 2
Mal C Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 (edited) Absolutly Love 'Living in the Footsteps of another Man' one of my favorites by them. Tony Drake co wrote this under his real name of Samuel Garner...and recorded his version... 'I'm so Jealous', 'Love uprising' are two more classics and this version of Cornelius Bros and Sister Rose... only came out on 45 in Brazil. Edited September 8, 2022 by Mal C 3
Popular Post Solidsoul Posted September 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2022 (edited) At the risk of being a bit silly because it got into the charts, I still like "You Don't Have To Go"! Edited September 13, 2022 by Solidsoul 6
Tobytyke Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 What do I wish for. Must have been popular a few years ago as it was featured on adverts for one of the fast food outlets mc donalds/KFC or suchlike
Geeselad Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Played this out after times in the last ten years, always goes down well, the origin of 'that' sample, so it's instantly recognisable. 2
Popular Post Rick Scott Posted September 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2022 I played this at Soul Scene In Sunny Scunny as a New release (1981) and many other venues Was very popular at the time 4
