The King Sound Interpreters-questions answered

I thought i'd start a new uncluttered topic which hopefully answers some of the questions in the OP above.

Two groups; Ivor (Sheff) & The Ibids & King Curtis & The Nobel Knights make up the King Sound Interpreters. Mostly from Charleston High School, West Virginia.

Two of the female (lead) vocals on 'You've Got Soul' are Linda Davis & Joyce Laurie of Lower Donally Hollow. They are two of an original four female vocalists 'backed up' by the 'band'. The KSI manager was Bill Cain.

King Curtis & The Interpreters would often back up James & Bobby Purify, and The Tams & The Tips...hence 'Hi Note' credit.

That same year May 1967 three West Virginia bands tied for 1st Place in a contest sponsored by Vox (amplifiers, etc) for the chance to win a movie contract with American International Films. The three joint winners recordings were made and sent to Hollywood, California. The bands were The King Curtis Caravan of Stars (Charleston), The Majestics (Charleston), and The Explosive Dynamiks (Huntington). An 'unfound' (I think) record by The King Sound Interpreters may exist called 'I Can Be Happy' but i've never tracked it down...unless it became a later reincarnation (1970) by Don & Debbie on the AMOS label? a fancyful idea i know!
