Yes,  very sad. She was always very underrated and her work on Stax was brilliant. Many people will be aware that she was the sister of Little Willie John but less well-known is that two of her sons, Joel Webster and Lim Taylor, both cut records for Ray Charles' Crossover label, with Taylor's LP being in particular demand.

A regular late nite session home spin a while ago for me with the nite cap last sip of red wine. Yes I dig the blues. Just as I dig hers. Will pull out that 45 of hers back. Thanks a lot for that Miss Mable. Bless you +

Sorry to hear this news.  I loved her singing.  I started buying her Tamla records in 1960, and continued with her stay records during the mid to-late 1960s.  Now, unfortunately, both she and one of my favourite singers, Little Willie, are gone.  Lots of great memories.

Very sad news indeed. I was lucky enough to catch her at The Ponderosa Stomp in 2019, where she put in a terrific performance and was wickedly funny in the Q& A session. Some great stories of her childhood with Willie too.

The flip of Able Mabel is a big fave in our house. RIP Mabel.
