Not having a dig at promoters or the staff at these venues.

but i have a disabled wife  in a wheel chair and never get any seating around the main rooms and always end up on the balcony.

It would be good if disabled people could be admitted half an hour before the start .

booked to go to the wigan 50th  at the winter gardens now having second thoughts .

Happens at Whitby Weekender Mark . Disabled /less able have priority access via the lower entrance , no steps  (down the access road & straight into the market place /main room). There’s also a lift to the modern room below , or the reception area /main front entrance above. All works well . 

At Cleethorpes we allow people in wheelchairs access a good half hour before the doors open. The venue has good access, apart from to upstairs. 

Some kindness and consideration from punters would also be good. At the recent Blackpool festival I saw a wheelchair user stuck behind 2 eejits oblivious to the live performance going on behind them while they spent the entire time shouting at each other between gulps of beer. There was little the lady concerned could do because the space most accessible to wheelchair users was full of similar types. Loads of space had been set aside (seating with tables, even) for people more interested in catching/tanking up, taking selfies, and all the other urgent things that must it seems be done during a concert these days, so can't blame the promoter. Sad stuff.

Yes Phil I am disabled and I attended cleethorpes Detroit a go go they was brilliant with me in my wheelchair letting me in 30 minutes before everyone else cheers mark
