Visual grade: VG €200 Gino & The Gentlemen – Country girl / You’re gonna cry – KM 726 In-demand Funky R&B that always delivers on the floor. Plays well above grade. Visual grade: VG €200 Tex and Linda – Maybe baby / Runaround heart – Knight 4467 Super rare quirly garage rocker outta Phoenix. Don’t snooze as you may never encounter this one ever again (let alone in this condition). Visual grade: M- €200 The Elgins – The huddle / Once upon a time – Joed 716 Transitional rockin’ soul with a doo-wop popcorn flip. Only the repro is listed on Discogs but this is the real deal of course. Visual grade: VG+ €200 Big Gus Jefferson – Will you be there / At last you came – Sagittar 108 Big room Popcorn sound that never pops up. Beautiful clean copy. Visual grade: M-, xol €150 P.J. Smith & Co – Hold on to it / Hey mister – Shane 100 Semi-known crossover from the Henry Stone stable. Pressed slightly off-center. Clean surface but label has some fading. Visual grade: EX €125 Sunlover’s – My poor heart / This love of ours – Mutt & Jeff 18 Quality LA fingersnapper with demand in both the Northern and Popcorn scene. Surface looks scuffy but plays quite well. Visual grade: VG- €125 The Sensational Cymbals – When will it end / Mercy lord – Jay-Walking 018 Pennsylvania gospel funk with super crisp drums. Visual grade: M- €120 Smiley Lewis – Big Mamou / Play girl – Imperial 45-5234 OG Jump blues rocker from 1953. Play girl side has more marks and grades VG. Visual grade: VG+ €120 Nanette – What a way to go / Same – Quintana Roo 596 Pure vibes on this early 80s stunner. Ultra rare on this label too (has it even been documented yet?) Visual grade: M-, storage warp NAP €120 OFS Unlimited – Mister Kidneys / Mystic – Prix 7301 One of the rawest funk 45s ever recorded. Both slices are pure filth. Pristine copy. Visual grade: M- €100 Hart & Grant – Stuck on a feeling / Instrumental – Metro Sounds 0011 Downtempo boogie vibes on this Ontario release from 1988 Visual grade: VG+, slight warp NAP €100 Eddie Gough and The Traditions – I’m coming home baby / You’re the one – Century 32823 One of the best versions out there, but at this point still too obscure to be widely acknowledged as such. Visual grade: VG+ €100 Bobby Patterson – I’m in love with you / Married lady – Jetstar 121 Brilliant uplifting early crossover sound. Visual grade: VG+ €90 Adam’s Apples – You are the one I love / same – Brunswick 9-78025 Northern dancer on a clean demo copy. Visual grade: VG €75 Jon Lucien – Search for the inner self / It’s bigger than I – Ampex 11036 Spiritually charged crossover winner and a strong personal fave. Has one feeler mark during first third of the song that causes a tick during intro but plays quite nice after that. Visual grade: VG- to VG €75 Masters of Soul – Please wait for me / Love loves love – Capitol 2255 DJ Copy Top drawer Texas ballad. Clean demo copy. Visual grade: VG+ €75 Freddie Scott – I’ll be gone / He will break your heart – Shout 216 Uptempo mover. Some surface marks but plays excellent. Visual grade: VG €60 Big Maybelle – Oh lord, what are you doing to me / Same old story – Scepter 1279 Absolutely stunning deep gospel soul Visual grade: VG+ €50 Charlie Rich – Love is after me / Pass on by – London 10104 Clean original silver top UK issue. Visual grade: VG+ €50 Woman – I want to get back / That’s how it is – Shock 1010 Fantastic Chicago ballad double-sider that for some unknown reason isn’t fetching three figures (yet) Visual grade: M- €50 Storm’s – Save me / Answer me – Audiodisc Acetate Gritty R&B dancer that never made it past the acetate phase so I guess this might be a one-off. Visual grade: VG- €40 Fried Chicken – Funky DJ / Juke box – Stone 207 70s Funk 45 that was incorporated in the legendary Brainfreeze mix Visual grade: EX €40 Rusty Bryant – Fire eater / The hooker – Prestige 750 Classic funk by the jazz saxophonist. Clean player but has some minor loss in fidelity during first rotations. Visual grade: VG €40 The Precisions – If this is love / You’ll soon be gone – Drew 1003 Stone cold Detroit classic. Copies of this surface regularly but finding a clean one can be tricky. Under a bright light I noticed a very subtle hairline mark running from outer edge to label. Visual grade: VG+, slight warp €40 Maxine Womack – Don’t touch me / Tweet, tweet, tweet – Tack 840 Rare as hens teeth (1 have on DC) deep soul beauty with a funky R&B flip. Visual grade: M-, dish warp NAP €25 James Fountain – Seven day lover / Malnutrition – Cream 5002 Quality crossover dancer that has always remained a bit underappreciated in spite of its obvious quality on and off the floor. 90s issue that usually goes for 20+ but knocked some off the price because of the warp. It moves quite a bit but tracks perfectl at 2g tonearm weight. Visual grade: M-, storage warp €12
