As a peice of history they are priceless. As importantly for people who never went or for people who have forgotten why we got into this music & on the scene it encapsulates the period. RS in my opinion in the later years of the Casino found his own & was fantastic, new records being broken every week, yes every single week, can you imagine waiting with baited breath for the next gem that would send you into a dancing frenzy. The scene was always about 'new' records being played & this was a particularly fertile time for RS. I hope that the people who listen to these podcasts not only enjoy them, but remember why we loved the Casino & RS in particular.......................... new discoveries both sixties & seventies alike every week, thats why I went & why I continue to be part of the NS scene to this day. Richard was in every sense the main man around this time, and it is wonderful to hear these tracks in this format, just to remind us how exciting an era this was. Well done Pete.

Had a very similar tape myself for years before it got lost. Spent many a happy hour hanging over the Casino balcony with a tape recorder in my hands. Wonderful years and just brought back how influential Richard Searling was on the scene in those days. For me he was Wigan Casino and worth travelling 200 miles every two weeks to go to Wigan. All newies at the time but would kill to own most of those same tunes today. Got any more? Warren

Warren It used to take us nearly 8 hours back then from the South Coast.................acroos country, changing trains, picking up 'things' along the way, I could only afford the train once a month so we would 'jump' the train sometimes too, there & back. When I went home for the weekend to Derbyshire we would sometimes get the coach up from the Brit on Trent Bridge..........this was luxury. Coming back we would stop at Birmingham Locarno or TOTW Stafford for the dayers, we would have o leave early evening to get the last train & inevitably had to stand all the way cos it was so packed !!!!. Only thing that slightly puzzles me is his disregard in recent years for the soulful end of dance music (yet he WAS/IS big into, say, Rockmelons "Love's Gonna Bring You Home" from the early 90's and I struggled to see the distinction?????). Still, it's a personal choice. Anyway, back on topic.............it's great hearing those tunes first played under their pseudonyms......."Top Cat", "James Mack & Chicago Gangsters" etc..................and just how good are things like Paris and The Imaginations........feck me!!
