Been on the northern scene about 30 years now,i can honestly say i've been to a soul night,alldayer, allnighter never walk away and said i had a bad night,deep down im just emotionally luv with it on the dancefloors aswell as off,the sounds which i hear after a venue just sticks in my head for weeks after,i explained this to my mates they wanna know what planet im on,when im feeling down not very often i stick the old loveballards on when im hypo i stick the up tempo on,theres also sounds on the scene you can say to your loved one how im feeling with the background music in,and im thinking hows this going to end for me or will it,is anyone out there feeling the same as I,god must be looking down on me when he picked the choice of music for me.

i cant get my head round why when im driving with workmates in my car and ive got a cd on, they dont suddenly start screaming "what is this tune, ive never heard anything so good", the other day we were driving and linda jones just cant live my life came on, the two work mates with me just carried on talking about work, unbelievable

What I like is being stuck in traffic with some brilliant tune on and looking at the saps in the next car. They will never know what the Salvadors or Billy Woods sounds like.

I can never understand how people enjoy chart music... its just there... they listern to it because the media tells them to... people just don't understand what its like to really feel a tune.. a soul artist singing with thier heart.. every word comes from deep down.. Take Jimmy Bo Hornes "I just can't speak" when he sang that he sang it because he meant it.. I feel that he lived each one of them words, he sang how he felt.. yes Soul artist made records for a living they wanted to earn money, yes it was thier job, but they meant it.. now artists havn't got the Soul inside them its all about marketing and how to make money.. Maybe with the likes of Myspace and unsigned bands getting record sales things may change...

When was the last time a day went passed that you never listerned to a record or CD.. me personally I can't play music as background music, as soon as the sound of soul comes from the speakers I loose intrest in whats happening around me and the music becomes what I am doing and I stop every thing else.... wired yes .. Happy Very...

Yep hats off Billy, 30yrs . About 24 unwavering meself. Got soul pals that were sort of swept away with the whole indie thing, early 90's. (Sorry lads ) Not me baby! Rare 60's/70's soul all the way..

Even after 30 years of the scene I still get a fantastic rush when I hear certain tracks, can't comprehend how someone hearing, Barbara McNair singing Your'e gonna love my baby, is not instantly smitten by the sheer quality of the music.

In some ways I feel sorry for those who can't seem to get it.

Blimey im feeling it and i only had the pleasure for a couple of years now, Jackie Wilson when he sings "Because of You" it just gets me everytime, them first few lyrics is just out of this world, and the rest aint too bad either

Nice one mate. I know exactly what you mean. This music has been transporting me to another level of consciousness since I was 16. When Im listening to a Soul tune everything else disappears; there is no crappy job or money worries, no politics, no woes of any kind, nothing exists except the moment that I am in and the elation that I get from the music. Better than any drug. Total release and freedom and I doubt too many people get that from Listening to talentless pricks like Westlife.
