Ratt Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Most of my memories are solid, but one I find myself trying to figure out is the name of the pub all of our crowd used to hit before opening time. We basically got to Wigan around 9/10 pm and hit this pub to drop gear so we didn't feel the dreaded drug squad hand on a shoulder while standing in the queue, then being searched and ending up at the local nick. Although it had a good crowd of soulies, it was certainly an allcomers pub as well. Not one where you'd hear Northern on the jukebox as such. A big double fronted pub as far as I can remember, that if you exited the Casino, turned to the right, with the car park on your right, then stuck your left arm out at a 45 degree angle, sort of walked for 5/10 minutes in that direction, that's about where it was. A small insignificant matter for most people on soul source I know, but the memories of those nights are all that's left now. Many of the friends who were together with me are long buried 2
Chatty Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 From your directions I could only think it would be the Horseshoe pub? Sadly no longer there. https://images.app.goo.gl/4vwFwjMDRbFMfQvE9 1
washlively Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Possibly the Horseshoe or Water Wheel but that was under a huge block of flats. 1
John Hart Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Hi Ratty , Would Agree Horseshoe on the corner of Station Road , we travelled the same route ,would park the Daytona yellow ford Capril 1300L in the Mulit story car park on the right then wait with baited breath for the Climax of the Week . Alternative Pub Routes ; Swan And Railway opposite Wallgate station, Via Clarence Pub. LOL John ,Malaga,Spain. 1

But none of it looked familiar anymore. Any of the pubs now look nothing like the one. So thanks mate, I can talk the talk with the few friends remaining, and who also frequented the place to do them things. It was a pub to really set us up for the bash of a night that was the Casino.

Catsprint Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Yip, out the Casino, straight across Station Road, ABC on the left, keep walking at say ‘2-o’clock’, slightly up hill and they you are ish.
