After watching the slapping I saw it won 'Best Documentary' and rightly so, it is fantastic.  Might have to watch again later.

Msm featuring news that the documentary has had a 2023 knock on effect...

 

Questlove’s Summer of Soul, the Oscar-winning documentary about the long-forgotten Harlem Cultural Festival, has inspired organizers to plan a new fest at the site of that 1969 event.

In the lead-up to the summer of 2023, organizers have planned a year-long series of events that includes film screenings, open mic nights, and musical performances at Marcus Garvey Park, as well as concerts spanning all genres at venues throughout the Harlem neighborhood.

I really enjoyed watching "Summer of Soul" and the team deserves every award they won. I understand they have the rights to the entire footage. So I really wish they will release follow ups, no interviews, just the full performances including the ones that didn't make it to the movie, e.g. Chuck Jackson.
