Wow! That's a 10 out of 10 review Mike, at least by the sound of it.

I haven't been to the cinema since 1996! That was also when I last went on holiday.

The film was The DaVinci Code - not great really, although I thought the book was excellent.

Peter

🙂

yep I'd say 10/10 but that would be for the overall experience as for me the visual and audio are a major factor in that rating almost as much as the actual films plot. would doubt that the rating be that high if watching away from the cinema

anyone caught the imax version?

We caught 'Civil War' last week, 9/10 I'd say, not what I thought it be and as I didn't look at my watch one, it must have been good! Most enjoyable and recommended

Anyone any current cinema tips?

I was looking on IMDB for Blue Lights – series 2 and noticed on the entry for Seamus O’Hara, he was in the recent film In the Land of Saints and Sinners

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15782690/?ref_=tt_urv

Pleasantly surprised with it, bit different than I expected.

Apart from having to watch Sarah Greene (yes I’m that shallow), you get a tiny snippet of Marlena Shaw – California Soul
Otherwise, nothing very recent has caught my attention………………

blown away

Couldn't have been as poor as part 1

I thought 1 was good , not great, but ok, though after watching 2 at a cinema would seriously consider making a cinema visit to see 1 in that enviroment

I've been putting off watching part 2 because of how pretty dull and boring the first was....maybe it was just building to something better.  Will watch both together I think.

Last night the bike riders really good very enjoyable and some great acting from the stars good soundtrack and not filmed as you would expect. Week before last The watched a typical m knight shymalan film bit think his daughter EPA’s the director not scary but quite suspenseful.

Good morning all you film buffs. Crying out for a cracking film here; any recent recommendations? Crime thrillers, cops and robbers. International offerings are always interesting.

I've been scrolling, channel hopping, starting/stopping watching, checking in on here.

What does a man have to do to be able to sit and enjoy a very entertaining film?

Thank you.

Anyone seen KNEECAP yet? Supposed to be the best Indie film around at the moment. Going to see it next week at my local.

I loved it, very funny.

Some great one liners - "I wanna blow you like a Brighton hotel" !

I finally got around to watching Oppenheimer last week and it is fantastic. Very long, very well acted and needs a lot of concentration but there's no other film maker like Christopher Nolan out there at the moment and his films will be all time classics. I learnt an awful lot too. I'd watch it again.

That's some recommendation. Definitely on my watch list for when my powers of concentration and interest return.

I'll check that one out.

I hope you're ok. I've been grey - just like the weather. There's a good song in there some where!

Your friend.

I'm enjoying this mate. Just having an ice cream interval. The lady hasn't been round with the tray round her neck so I'm having to get my own. 🤨

Some great European things around.

Thanks for the tip.

Sing Sing

Really didn't engage with this as not sure what it's all about, sort of half-baked. Based on or true story, I think, but wouldn't bother watching again.

The Right to Read

Very interesting, but very alarming too

Strike: An Uncivil War

A must watch for me. However, you probably need to ignore the 'politics' and concentrate on the peoples' stories.

Thanks Simon

I remember travelling through the North Notts/South Yorks minefields and being stopped regularly by the police as being suspected of being flying pickets. Definitely a Thatcher inspired revenge war on the working classes.

I've decided to watch the Fargoe series again - Billy Bob Thornton is one of my favourite actors. Have you seen Swing Blade?

I hope you're well Sir.

Not Lady Di, but; on a few occasions me and my mate Terry did act as driver and minders to a male stripper who used to appear at numerous miners welfares throughout North Notts and South Yorkshire. It was an odd job but paid good money. We travelled from Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire. The "artiste" was popular with the ladies but we did occasionally get grief from some of the wives husbands who often turned up to see what the fuss was about.

I did some odd things to earn a crust back in the day. There were police anti flying picket road blocks everywhere - some of the old bill gave us a right hard time.

...off to this next week, with a q&a with the band and Don Letts..looking forward to it..

...This was great...well made film that didn't drag...well worth a watch if you get the chance...q&a was good afterwards...sadly though yet another story of working musicians getting ripped off...Don Letts touched on "authenticity" in the q&a which was an interesting theme which is picked up in the doc... doing the rounds of film fests at the minute but will prob be on streaming things I expect...
