Greg Belson Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 (edited) Join us on Saturday 26th March @ 10am US PST (5pm UK GMT) on dublab.com for another label feature focus on the Divine Chord Gospel Show. For the 1st spotlight of 2022, we're diving deep into the heavyweight catalogue of one of the mightiest Gospel Music institutions around. We're exploring the discography of; SAVOY RECORDS - Blue Label 45's Savoy started as a Newark, New Jersey, record label founded in 1942 by Herman Lubinsky & Ozzie Cadena; the label moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey & relocated to New York City. By the mid 1950's Lubinsky changed his focus towards releasing black gospel music, eventually becoming the pioneer of the longest running black gospel label in existence with both the number of releases & years in operation. Here, we're focusing on the blue labeled 45's that were issued by Savoy (the other most prevalent colors being maroon, silver & white demo). Savoy is now a subsidiary of Malaco Records, in Jackson, Mississippi. Once again, over 40 7" singles are loaded in the crates. We're running deep into this amazing body of work....pull up a chair....it's music you might not have heard before! Edited March 21, 2022 by Greg Belson
