Mick Holdsworth Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 (edited) Just a general tip off for anyone mailing within the UK. It seems that Royal Mail are now back to the old system of only deliveing "Signed For" and "Special Delivery" items if you're in. rather than the Postie signing themselves and delivering regardless. Obviously, as before, you may get parcels self signed if you're out, as we always did, depending on your Postie etc. Nothing to worry about, just thought I'd mention it incase you may not be aware of the change. Woodbutcher Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 My postie was just moaning about them having to start taking photos of any small parcel deliveries he has to make because so many are 'going missing' and the Post Office/Royal Mail are being swamped by claims . 1

Yes, maybe they've had to clamp down beacause of that. I only found out today whilst checking a couple of parcels I sent out yesterday. Both were "Delivery Attempted" one SD, one Signed For, both in different parts of the country, so I think it's going to be the new *old" normal. Edited March 11, 2022 by Mick Holdsworth typo

Has anyone actually had a successful claim for a lost package with PO/RM? if so, did they pay compensation in full or do you need 'over insure' to get the full value back?. And, if you're posting to Europe are their T&Cs re comp the same? I am contemplating posting to a French 'boogie' collector, but wonder if i should bother. Edited March 14, 2022 by Simon T
Owston Lad Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 There seems to be a different postie every day on our patch, unlike several years ago when a regular would be familiar with my hobby and just drop through the box even without a signature. 2
