Popular Post Andyg Posted February 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2022 (edited) 21st of February 2004 saw the first night of the Lifeline Rare Soul All-nighters. Promoters Andy Dyson and Mick H tired of hearing the same old same every week decided to do something to promote the many upfront, rare, forgotten and thinking man’s (and woman’s) oldies and the 100’s of quality records, both cheap and expensive that dancers rarely get the chance to hear. Having decided on the venue, Sheridans @ Dewsbury and having decided what they wanted the dancers to hear the next task was to assemble the finest crop of upfront dj’s the scene has to offer, so joining Andy and Mick were Butch, for many the finest exponent of the “newies” scene with a collection of unknowns and exclusives unrivalled, Tim Brown and Nick Stevenson. Guest for the first night was London’s Marco. Any worries about selling the format to the punters were soon dispelled, as the first night was a sell out with the doors soon locked. I have the flyers somewhere, will have to dig them out. The first weekender was 2006, we did one at the Fox at Colsterworth prior to the move to Barmby Moor, so two years or so tops Edited February 22, 2022 by Chalky 1
Micksmix Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 I was lucky enough to DJ at the Old Bell at Barmby Moor Weekender in one of the saturday afternoon sessions 2006 I think? Great times. We went to all the venues that Lifeline ran at The Fox was a hell of a drive from the North West, enjoyed The Stables but I think Sheridans was my favourite of the all the venues they ran from !!
Chalky Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 December 10th 2005 was the night at the Fox, sure we only did one there. So not even two years at the Stables, felt like longer! First weekender was Feb 3rd to 5th 2006 and Barmby Moor was the home for Lifeline from then for a couple of years. 1
Steve L Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 Never went to Sheridans but had some great nights at Barmby Moor & the Stables, seems like a lifetime ago now... 2
Popular Post Bbrich Posted February 23, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 23, 2022 went to Stables a few times, cant remember when, stayed at a b&b that was about 1 mile walk away off that dual carriageway. didn't know anybody and didn't know hardly any of the records, just listened & danced in my own world - Totally brilliant !! 4
Jim Elliott Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Enjoyed the Stables immensely, particularly the well lit record bar upstairs. Jim 2
Popular Post Baz Atkinson Posted February 23, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 23, 2022 Loved Sheridans and the weekenders etc . These dos were the last stand imho apart from the 100 club which also has a hardcore of nighter people . Lifeline and the Wilton got me off my arse to sample the essence of the underground scene , I doubt we’ll get better days apart from the late seventies / eighties for musical excellence and genuine friendship !! 7
