Scallybob Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Not that "soccer" is my chosen description. A good few years back Richard had this competition on his show and unbelievably my Al Williams and assorted Detroit rarities were beaten by some bloke from Stockport who picked The Flasher and Muriel Day. Well. not quite but I'm over it now, honest! Referring back to the Soul Britannia thread there is a link with Soul and football. Very few lads I know have no interest in the beautiful game. I once went to Forest away clutching a Rose Batiste demo I'd bought at the Wigan Oldies all-nighter. Is it that working class thing?
Pete S Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I often used to go from Pep's shop straight down to the Wolves, record(s) in hand. Amazingly they all got home in perfect nick.
Steve G Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Sometimes went to Record Corner before a game, but not before a millwall or Brighton game, as they WOULD get smashed - probably over my head

Not sure if its down to a working class thing, there seemed to be more of it about years ago than there is now.Back in the late 70s early 80s i remember chatting to lads who regularly went to football games and seen a few arguments at soul do`s back then. These days it seems to be more banter....maybe we are to old to fight anymore . Edited February 11, 2007 by Neil-ok
Guest marge Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I had a spiritual moment when Darren Huckerby scored a 3-2 clincher with grace and skill against Man U, when we so desparately needed three points, hope against hope, the way that some soul records make me feel, totally elavated, is that what you're asking?
