Popular Post Kevinkent Posted February 14, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) A year has passed since that engaging raconteur, original soulboy and esteemed collector Dave Kilworth (Dthedrug) sadly perished in a house fire at his home address. I still read through his old posts to educate and entertain myself. Continue to rest in peace fellah - Kev Edited February 14, 2022 by Kevinkent 13
Popular Post hullsoulie Posted February 15, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 15, 2022 (edited) I agree wholeheartedly. He was certainly a 'character'. I will cede he had a distinct partisan bias to most things, especially his 'Spirit of 69/West Ham' days, but i always felt he wrote with PASSION, although he had a penchant for the caps lock key and used punctuation as a miser uses gold coins. What came across to me was a gent who had been involved in the minutiae of the rare soul scene, had overcome many challenges and was in a constant struggle with the ones that remained. I never formally met the chap, but think he would have been a very entertaining raconteur, I was very sad when I read of his passing, and the manner of it. Like you I miss his posts, if you persevered and re-read them he was a knowledgeable chap, I only hope the big man upstairs doesnt put him on the same cloud as Pete Lawson! Mike Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 RIP Dave aka @dthedrug https://www.soul-source.co.uk/profile/13241-dthedrug/
Ratt Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Didn't know the man, but just read his profile and feel like I inhabited the same world as he did through the 70's/80's and on. Yea, many of my true and real friends passed in tragic and appalling ways, so it reminds me of those I miss also. You only live once, so live it right......and go easy on those that choose to live it different to the normals. 1

Another top bloke was Dave, the west mids adopted him good and proper, would put his head in most places, and an avid vinyl collector. If Mick Smith happened to be in town for a record fair, Dave would show up. Had a picture one time of him, Mick and Dave Rivers, at Keele all nighter, proper suvverners reunion! 1
