THE REVLONS: (Oh, Oh, Oh) What A Love / Did I Make A Mistake * TOY, M-, 150.- Euro
Superb 60's dancer and a former Pat Brady cover-up. A record that begs for a revival. Flip it over for an excellemt group-harmony-ballad - right up the street for todays low rider collecting scene.
STEVE SOUL: Popcorn With A Feeling * FEDERAL,VG++, 125.- Euro
One of the funkiest records ever recorded and one of the hardest to come by, if you collect James Brown productions. The record is super clean, except a small mark in the middle of the track, that causes a few light clicks.
THE GASLIGHT: Just Because Of You / It's Just Like Magic * POLYDOR, M-, 75.- Euro, on hold
Two great sides back to back on this hard to find major label release. The Gaslight recorded 4 singles, three on the independent Grand Junction label and this is their last one, that former Dramatics manager, Chuck Armstrong, managed to lease to Polydor. All records they released failed without any success, only group member Oliver Cheatham scored a major hit in 1983 with "Get Down Saturday Night". The group was formerly known as Butch & The Newports and was from the Michigan area. Anyway, two great group soul sides, that should appeal to colectors of sweet soul and crossover soul alike.
LEE McDONALD: Gotta Get Home / Show Me * DEBBIE, M-, 75.- Euro
Outstanding Modern Soul stepper from 1979. Top side is on the rare LP by Lee McDonald as well, but the 7" provides a different mix compared to the LP-take. Flip it over for a beautiful slow jam.
DANNY WHITE: Natural Soul Brother * SSS INTERNATIONAL, promo, M-, 60.- Euro
New Orleans funky soul from the top shelf. Written by Dan Greer and produced by Shelby Singleton. Dancefloor pleasing soulful funkyness, that never fails to get a great reaction from the dancefloor.
DELILAH MOORE: Ooh-Wee Baby / Wrapped Up Tight * MONEY, VG++, 40.- Euro
The wonderful Delilah Moore on this essential west coast double header. Featured side offers a mellow funky dancer, flip it over for a heartfelt ballad. This talented lady is best known for her immortal "It Takes Love", but all of her recordings are essential. Always on the dge of being a jazz singer, but she had so much more to offer and even arranged her recordings by herself. Highly recomended disc!
LIBERTY: Girl You Better Wake Up * BASF, 35.- Euro, sold
Mecca Highland room classic in immaculate condition. One of those 70's dancers, that gets you after a few spins. Recorded and produced in Muscle Shoals / Alabama, but it doesn't sound like a Muscle Shoals production at all.
ERROLL GAYE & THE IMAGINATIONS: Love And Affection / You Don't Want my Love * STEEL TOWN; M-, 30.- Euro
One side soulful and uptempo, flip it over for a great sweet side. Excellent 1975 local Pittsburgh release, that can only go up in price. This copy comes with it's original jukebox stripe.
CHANGE: The Glow Of Love * WARNER BROTHERS, VG+, 30.- Euro, sold
Actually the group "Change" is from Bologna Italy and they where so impressed by the vital disco scene in the USA, that they decided to hire US-american singers. The vocals on this Modern Soul masterpiece are by Luther Vandross and the whole record is a call to the dancefloor. Check the soundbyte and try not to move.... impossibile!
THE NOTATIONS: At The Crossroads / A New Day * TWINIGHT, promo, VG+, 30.- Euro, sold
White label promo of this mighhty fine Chicago double header. One side is great sweet soul, flip it over for a superb crossover soul tracl. Prodced by Syl Johnson.
ELDRIDGE HOLMES: Let's Go Steady * KANSU, M-, mild label damage, 30.- Euro
Ask a soulfan for his favourite New Orleans artist and they will probabyl say Lee Dorsey, Willie Tee or Eddie Bo. My answer will be Eldridge Holmes, he is one of the greatest unsong heroes of the Big Easy with this record being no exception. "Let's Go Steady" is a perfect midtempo dancer, lurking into crossover territory and totally underplayed. Check the soundbyte!
THE ADMIRATIONS: Don't Leave Me * ONE-DERFUL, M-, 30.- Euro
Mint copy of this stunning slice of Chicago 60's soul. Wonderful harmonies a superb lead voice and a fingersnapping dance beat mixed together to soul perfection.
SYL JOHNSON: Going To The Shack / Don't Give It Away * TWINIGHT, VG++, 30.- Euro
In my little book the best two-sider Syl Johnson recorded for Twinight records. "Going To The Shack" is a blasting funky soul track, that ticks all the boxes, while the flipside comes with a very solid mid- to uptempo groove. Syl just recently passed away - may his music live on - he left an immense musical legacy. R.I.P.
LEROY HUTSON: All Because Of You * CURTOM, VG++, 25.- Euro, sold
A Leroy Hutson and Richard Tufo collaboration of the highest order. The record kicks of with an open drum breakbeat and then swings up to a soulful dancefloor pleaser. A must have for anybody, who calls himself a DJ or simply likes fantastic soulmusic.
A.A.B.B.: Pick Up The Piece One By One * I DENTIFY, Promo, M-, 25.- Euro, on hold
Mintish copy of this cinematic funk masterpiece; a record so tight and cleverly arranged, that it simply doesn't get boring. No surprise as it's mopst likely the J.B.'s behind this club banger.
GWEN McCRAE: Lead Me On * COLUMBIA; M-, 25.- Euro, sold
Extra clean copy of this super soulful Florida goodie. Actually Gwen McCrae's first solo appaerance on a record and she delivers with a raspy, but sweet expression. A crossover soul classic and this copy is clean as a whistle.
DIAMOND JOE: Hurry Back To Me / Don't Set Me Back * SANSU, M-, 25.- Euro
One of the finest vocalists coming from the crescent city going by the name of Diamond Joe. The guy is a mystery and little is known except his legacy of seven great 45s with this two Allen Touissant productions are no exception. One side superb uptempo and the flipside has an amazing stop-and-go-arrangement with belting vocals by the man.
BOBBY WELLS: Let's Copp A Groove / The Psychedelic Theme * ROMUR, VG-, plays fine, 25.- Euro, on hold
Wounded copy of this Philly Northern Soul dancer; lots of light scratches, but nothing deep. Plays way better then it looks, fine for DJing as the saying goes. Your chance to get a great playing copy of a mighty fine slice of 1967 soul for half of the going rate. Did I mention, that I have a weak spot for the instro flipside? Anyway, I've added this side as a soundfile too.
DYKE & THE BLAZERS: Runaway People * ORIGINAL SOUND, promo, VG+, 20.- Euro, sold
The best 45 Dyke & The Blazers ever recorded and all their records are great! This is the epitome of funky soul to me and the lyrics are about the O'Jays, who left Dyke and his band without any money in the middle of america during a tour when they where hired as their back-up band. The tour didn't went well and the O'Jays decided to head home without getting homeward tickets for the band. A revenge record and a damn good one too. This is the way rarer pomo of this gem.
Who would disagree on a starting line that goes: "nothing can make you move around like music"? A feel good Northern Soul classic in shiny mint condition, housed in it's original birth sleeve and sounding as fresh as it sounded in 1966, when it was released. What's not to like?
LEON HAYWOOD: It's Got To Be Mellow * DECCA; VG++, 20.- Euro, sold
Late 60's midtempo sound, that some call crossover and some Northern, who cares? It's simply great danceable soulmusic from the top shelf for the price of a few pints at the pub.
SHARPEES: Tired Of Being Lonely / Just To Please You * ONE-DERFUL!, VG++, 20.- Euro
Two great Chicago 60's sides back to back. Btw, can someone shed some light of the always wrong release date on One-Dewrful records? This one got released in 1965 and not 1963 as the label indictaes.
BOBBY BENNETT: Big New York / Baby, Try Me * CBS, Made in France, Vinyl: M- / Sleeve;: VG++, 20.- Euro
Two excellent and hard hitting 60's soul dancers back to back. This underrated 45 came out on Phil-LA-Of-Soul in the US, this is the extra clean french issue with a nice looking art sleeve.
THE DELFONICS: La - La - Means I Love You / Can't Get Over Losing You * PHILLY GROOVE, promo, M-, 20.- Euro, sold
Way harder promotional copy of this sweet soul masterpiece. Simply an iconic recording and how nice does the white label promo look? I guess most of you never flipped it over for a rather good dancer.
THE DELFONICS: Without You / He Don't Really Love You * MOON SHOT, M-, 20.- Euro, sold
The debut record of the Delfonics form 1966 and it's all there what made them one of the most characteristic groups of the 60's and 70's. This is a tough record to find in great nick and slow records MUST be in good condition.
EDDIE HOLMAN: Stay Mine For Heaven Sake * PARKWAY; M-, 20.- Euro, sold
Extra clean copy of this must have Philly production by the talented Harthon gang. Drop the needle on any Eddie Holman record and you hear within seconds, that it's him singing; he had a style if i it's own and "Stay Mine..." is far better then it's popular Northern Soul spin "Eddie's My Name".
EDDIE HOLMAN: This Can't Be True * PARKWAY, M-, drill hole in label, 10.- Euro, sold
Another must have record by the great Eddie Holman, this time on the slow end of Philly soul. Call it sweet soul or call it simply one of the greatest ballads ever recorded in the city of brotherly love.
SMOKEY ROBINSON & THE MIRACLES: Come Spy With Me * TAMLA, VG++, drill hole in label, 15.- Euro, sold
Inspired by the wave of Spy flicks a la James Bond, Smokery Robinson wrote this superb slice of 60's dance soul, that was hughely popular on the London Mod Club scene back in the days.
OTIS LEAVILL: Boomerang * BLUE ROCK, M-, 15.- Euro
Great and adventurous Andre Williams production; I love the roaring voice in the chorus.
Songwriting credits go to Otis Leavill himself along with Major Lance and Carl Davis. A Dreamteam at work.
JACKEY BEAVERS: I Never Found A Girl (To Love Me Like You Do) * SEVENTY-SEVEN, promo, VG++, 15.- Euro
Breathtaking good take on Eddie Floyd's hit for Stax records in Memphis. Strong seventies crossover vibes by Jackey Beavers, who recorded many great sides for Detroit and Chicago labels.
THE MANHATTENS: I Call It Love CARNIVAL, VG++, 15.- Euro, sold
Arguably the better record, then the overpriced 1980 release of "I Call It Love" by the Pretenders. Dreamy group harmonies and a fantastic production as per usual on Carnival's superb output. A lowrider record for the poor, but definietyl something to cherish.
THE CASCADES: One That I Can Spare / Pains In My Heart * RENEE, M-, mild warp not affecting play, 15.- Euro
Two raw and unpolished group soul sides back to back. I really like these records with a simple drum, bass, guitar backing and group harmony singers on top; this is the real sound of 60's soul music. Uncompromising, plain and simple good!
VIRGIL GRIFFIN & RHYTHM KINGS: If You Can't Go Dont * REGINALD, M-, 15.- Euro
Funky soul banger on Henry Reginald Hines own label. Hines was a producer from Greenville / Missouri and recorded some remarkable deep soul sides for several labels.
CHRIS CLARK: I Love You * V.I.P., VG+, drill hole in lbl, 15.- Euro
1967 Marvin Gaye production for the talented Chris Clark. This is a great dancer and an underrated disc on the extensive Motown catalogue. Listen carefully, Marvin is on background vocals here as well or is my mind playing tricks on me?
THE IMAGINATIONS: I Love You More (Than Anyone) * BACON FAT, VG++, almost M-, 15.- Euro, sold
Excellent midtempo group soul shuffler with a small combo arrangement; just drums bass, guitar and the mindblowing harmonies of The Imaginations. I'm sure these guys where big fans of the Impressions.
THE MALIBUS: Two At A Time / I Had A Dream * SURE-SHOT, VG+, 15.- Euro
Two great 60's group soul sides back to back on one of Don Robey's legendary Texas labels. Don Robey was a notorious gangster, who used his labels to white wash his funny money and even though he got writing credits on almost every record he released (and he released plenty), he wasn't able to play an instrument or read music.
THE DEACONS: Sock It To Me * SHAMA, M-, 10.- Euro, sold
Slick Chicago instrumental funk from the pen of Syl Johnson and Jo Armstead. This is in fact the instrumental of Syl Johnson's "Sock It To Me" on Twilight.
THE WHISPERS: I'm The One / You Must Be Doing Alright * SOUL CLOCK, VG++, 8.- Euro, sold
Another proof, that great records don't have to cost a fortune. An extra nice example of group soul perfection on top side coupled with a fine dancer on the flipside.
BOBBY WILSON: Here Is Where The Love Is * CHAIN, M-, 8.- Euro
One more cheap as chips goodie, this time from sunshine state Florida and distributed by Henry Stone's T.K. Productions. Super soulful and an undeniable proof, that qualiyt sopul records don't have to break the bank.
To order: PM me . Records will be reserved on a strict first come, first served basis.
No matter how big your order is, 7.- Euro flat unless you want registered postage!
I recomend registration for all orders over 50.- Euro for additional cost of 3.- Euros.
The list is not really sorted, so you find Funk, next to Northern and R&B next to Modern. Prices are in Euro!!!
Grading: Goldmine grading system - M- / VG++/ VG+ / VG / VG- etc.

THE MALIBUS: Two At A Time / I Had A Dream * SURE-SHOT, VG+, 15.- Euro
Two great 60's group soul sides back to back on one of Don Robey's legendary Texas labels.
