Popular Post Ady Croasdell Posted February 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 8, 2022 WARNING As I feared, when I heard that last year's anniversary single was being pressed at the factory that over-pressed some previous year's 45s, then sold them on through dodgy dealers - a similar thing has happened this time. I took the precaution of marking the singles that we gave out so that I could tell if the records had come through Kent and 6TS or not. Sure enough a few weeks later a copy turned up on Discogs which we bought at the high price and it was not marked. Later another copy turned up by someone who said they had traded it at a record fair and that too was unmarked. We have passed the matter on to the BPI who are investigating and the matter may become a criminal investigation. The perpetrators seem to be laying low or only selling the 45s off in ones or twos at very high prices around £300. Some on Discogs will be genuine records from the nighter but there's no way the buyer can tell so beware. If it goes like the last time this happened the price will drop drastically, as it did with those earlier ones. If you are tempted to buy one, maybe have a look at the other records the seller has for sale and you could work out if it's genuine or not - there's no way of telling for sure though unless you know how they are marked and that has to be kept secret in order to entrap the miscreants. We did not know which factory was pressing them until it was too late. 14
