Cant add another version Lee, but the Thee Midniters seem to have had a bash at every other song as far as I can see, was it on Whittier Records?

Yeah just seen a 45 on ebay thee midniters are you angry, and i thought surely not the servicemen tune! So headed over to youtube and its a slow boring rendition! But i wonder which came first!

and i agree…they seem to cover every song going😂

Kinda linked I suppose

What a good ear and good eye for spotting these out!

it seems that the four versions so far are nothing alike musically, and even different titles! But carry the same set of lyrics and similar vocal phrasing!

i wonder who wrote the blasted song then?

Sonics is earliest cut.

Could be that the others have led from that one then! I suppose the servicemen version must have felt like a bold jump back in the day!

I'm still in regular contact with Larry from the Servicemen, I'll drop him a message about this during the week.

Yeah that would be interesting if he can say who wrote it etc…👍

The Servicemen is a year later after having a quick look, Feb 67 whereas the Chattahoochie is Feb 66. There are two or three presses on Whittier, one with the car design.  One is much later repress it would seem from having a quick look round the internet.

As said before Midniters was before Servicemen and everything but boring. Wonderful full blown vocal group lowrider tune.

Wow, what an amazing contrast !

Hard to believe its the same song.

First heard the servicemen version around 77 at Wakefield Unity and proceeded to aquire the one pound pressing straight away!

Actually never heard ...need a helping hand...out for years and years later.
