Dobber Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 The servicemen -are you angry is in my top ten northern monsters, but ive just noticed a slow version by thee midniters(which i dont like at all) so how many versions? who recorded and released it first? lee
Mal C Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Cant add another version Lee, but the Thee Midniters seem to have had a bash at every other song as far as I can see, was it on Whittier Records? 1

Yeah just seen a 45 on ebay thee midniters are you angry, and i thought surely not the servicemen tune! So headed over to youtube and its a slow boring rendition! But i wonder which came first! and i agree…they seem to cover every song going
Dobber Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 The writers on both versions are different,so someone is full of dung

But carry the same set of lyrics and similar vocal phrasing! i wonder who wrote the blasted song then?

Chalky Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) I'm still in regular contact with Larry from the Servicemen, I'll drop him a message about this during the week. Edited February 8, 2022 by Chalky 1
The Yank Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 There was also an earlier release of "Are You Angry" on Chattahoochie- 1

There are two or three presses on Whittier, one with the car design. One is much later repress it would seem from having a quick look round the internet.

Wonderful full blown vocal group lowrider tune. 1
Tomangoes Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Wow, what an amazing contrast ! Hard to believe its the same song. First heard the servicemen version around 77 at Wakefield Unity and proceeded to aquire the one pound pressing straight away! Actually never heard ...need a helping hand...out for years and years later. Ed
