Guest Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) There are two sound tracks. I'm assuming that Alibi have licencing issues and the original soundtrack was withdrawn or not available. A new set of songs were commissioned. The music is provided by Terry Devine-King & Steve Levine, who specialise in providing pastiche soundtracks for TV. Try this link which contains some of the soundtrack. https://www.audionetwork.com/browse/m/album/60's-soul_1749 Edited February 8, 2022 by Dukeburgundy
Jkpnefc Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Cheers mate yes it's on there fourth one down
Popular Post Joefromupnorth Posted February 13, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) I actually appeared in the program alongside Sammy Dee and a crowd of younger folk recruited from college who knew nothing or little of the scene. Sammy and myself were asked to take them across the road from the venue to a club and try and calm, their own style of dancing shall we say to at least try and give the dancing scenes a chance on screen. I write here and slightly off topic but giving i hope a small insight into the making. The Olympics......Philly Dog was featured in the main floor scenes. Between takes i was shouting up to the actor who was on the imitation decks ( all music was played in the background ) Hey Mate ! stick the Olympics on for me ! He just pointed at the decks and shrugged and shook his head totally bewildered he didn't have clue what was playing........we laughed and found it quite funny at the time. Sammy and me were given record boxes to carry in and we sat at a table on the floor and i shouted to Sammy.....God !!! he said what ? i said what have we got in these boxes ? could be full of top tunes worth a fortune. We opened them up and they were crammed with............Frankie Vaughn, Shirley Bassey, Adam Faith, The Searchers etc etc..........bugger ! Many takes were never used and although the continuity was so strict positioning wise it was wasted. Never got paid either as day one was a bank holiday and i had to miss the second day's filming. The company producing the show for the BBC were very absent when it came to paying up it seems talking to others. If any of the directors of the program happen to read this please get in touch and i'll let you have my bank details for the money owed with interest of course. Then i can treat my wife and i to takeaway with the spoils Edited February 13, 2022 by Joefromupnorth 5
Owd Codger Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 (edited) Just come across this thread. I raised this on another forum years ago, got no response, so I thought I'd imagined it! I had to laugh when in the first show, full of "genuine" tunes from about 1968 played in the club ( or so the show portrayed) , they featured a Four Tops track , possibly Clip My Wings, that didn't surface until about 2005. Talk about Up Front. Edited July 7, 2022 by Owd Codger

Talk about Up Front. I'm not sure how I ended up here but I watched the George Gently episode and was absolutely blown away with the Four Tops record but I had no idea what it was. Whilst reading Gary Bushell's Bushell on the box TV review page for the Daily Star Sunday he reviewed the George Gently episode and mentioned The Four Tops track "Sweet was the love". Owd Codger Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 (edited) Yes....that was the track. As I say, in the show the DJ was playing a record in 1968, that probably hadn't even recorded by that date. Perhaps the event was held in the Tardis. Edited November 16, 2022 by Owd Codger 1

Thinksmart Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Have just seen a download of this from Sky with the rerecordings. Record shown in the girl's record box being Do I Love You.
Owd Codger Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Nit seen it for a while but I think the "under cover" Policeman makes a big thing about buying/ searching for Don Ray.
Thinksmart Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Yes 'that's worth £15' was said about it.
