Exactly how many versions of this tune have there been ?

Gladys Knight & the Pips (twice, different versions)

Chuck Jackson

The Originals

The Dynamics

Dusty Springfield

Others ?

Which was recorded first ?

Which do you prefer ?

I like Chuck's LP effort best ...

(apologies if this topic has been done in the past)

There are actually three versions of ANSSYBG by Gladys and the Pips on Motown, the third being a 'live' one, done with the uptempo arrangement. Think it was on a various artists live album originally, it's just been reissued as a bonus track on one of the recent series of UK Motown 2-On-1's...

..Temptations unbeatable on this song IMO, and BTW. One of the definitive "why on earth wasn't THAT released as a single" tracks from Motown...

The best version of Gladys's is an LP only track and is faster and a different take. I have the LP and without dragging it out it has a huge Pink Heart on the sleeve. The 45 is a lot slower.

I have the Gladys Knight version on tape from the Pendelum. So it is the one with longevity.

Never heard the Temps. Where can I hear it?
