Popular Post El Corol Posted January 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 16, 2022 I can’t find mention of this on Soul Source (did I miss it?) but R Dean Taylor passed away on the 7th Jan. the monster 4
Mike Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Quote Today (Jan. 13), Best Classic Bands received word from veteran music journalist Larry LeBlanc that Taylor’s wife of 52 years, Janee, confirmed his passing. The report indicated that Taylor had been briefly hospitalized a year ago with Covid-19, but had been living at home ever since, under hospice care. Taylor was 82. https://bestclassicbands.com/r-dean-taylor-obituary-indiana-wants-me-1-13-22/ seems there was some delay in confirmation yet more sad news RIP
Popular Post Tomangoes Posted January 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 16, 2022 Sadly confirmed then. RIP. I remember my older mate of mine going to a butlins holiday in 74/75 as a 15 year old and coming back with TAGIMH and telling the story of this new craze called Northern Soul and how dancers were dancing etc. The journey began, so thank you R Dean Taylor! Martyn Pitt Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 How sad to hear, RIP sir This was the side to play round our neck of the woods 3
The Tempest Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 I think for many of us out there - that school disco / youth club moment of hearing the opening bars to “ There’s a Ghost in my House “ and seeing the older boys and girls hit the dance floor and your thinking “ WTF “ is all this about ! So thank you Mr Taylor and sleep well from a generation who kept your music and memory firmly alive 3
Frankie Crocker Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Really sad news. I can remember Gotta See Jane playing on the car radio in 1968. I really liked this song even though I was only about 12 at the time. Indiana Wants Me was also a decent track released a couple of years later. I too, like many others, was smitten by There’s A Ghost In My House when it came out in the 70’s. I can distinctly recall it being played on my first trip to the Casino in March 1974 - it was a stunning tune then and is just as enjoyable when you hear it today. R. Dean Taylor will always be a Motown legend for me. 1
Twinroots Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Sad news..as others have said part of the early introduction via youth club, school disco and then scooter do's.. 1
Amsterdam Russ Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Before looking, I didn't know R. Dean Taylor had a website. It's very primitive, but - as well as some biographical info - does have two or three pics of him performing in the UK. http://www.rdeantaylor.com
