Billy link No it's not mine, it's an acetate that a friend of mine bought off Pat Brady about 12 years ago, he's still got it and won't sell it. Think he paid about 100 quid for it!

Think he paid about 100 quid for it! Pete - it sounds alot like the Del Royals version on Mercury (see scan) which came out Oct 1969. Havent got time to compare the two maybe its an unreleased different mix of the DR's? cheers, derek

Derek Pearson Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Only ever seen double sided WDJ's of this - anybody got a red issue and whats the flip like? Believe the Del Royals only had 2 releases on Mercury. Great vocals indeed from Willie Johnson I suspect (he's the featured singer named on the credits).
Mark B Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 isnt there another version by the guy who wrote it mark
Mike Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 version by wilson picket on his motown lp american soul man shows up anyone checked it out ?
Guest Johnny One Trout Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Niiiice Pete very nice indeed John
mikeysoul Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Definately the Del-Royals version. Is Lou Rawls the more obvious version? Always reminds me of Colour Me Father, the sentiment of the song, not the actual tune
