Totally great Detroit sweet soul two sider on Marvin Figgins Grand Junction label. This is the same group as Butch & The Newports, who had a collectable record on Black Rock records. Most prominent member of the Gaslight was Oliver Cheatham, who later scored a world wide hit with "Get Down Saturday Night".

"I'm So Glad" is an underrated dancer from the man. It was recorded during the "Show Must Go On"-sessions and didn't found it's way onto the legendary LP. Needless to say, that "Just Out Of My Reach" is a deep soul ballad of immense proportions.

Excellent midtempo soul from 1967, recorded in Tyler/Texas, just across the border to Louisiana. "Losin' Boy" was Eddy Giles first secular record and it sold well down south for an independent release. Nor surprise as it's a distinctive, catchy song with Eddy in top form. Extra clean copy on the "Losin Boy"-side, flipside has mild marks, but plkays clean.

Recorded in Jackson Mississipi's Malaco studios and released on GSF records, one of my favourite 70's soul labels. Superb Modern Soul with a catchy melody, a fine beat and extraordinary soulful vocals. What more do you need?

Two truly amzing sides by maybe the longest exsiting group of all time; they are still around and know how to mesmerize an audience. This record was recorded in Memphis on Chip Moman's AGP output in 1968 and no matter what side youn put the needle on, you get phenomenal group soul from the top shelf.

Banging funky soul by Gloria Taylor, who had a number of great records including her now indemand 70's outings on Selector Sound. "Grounded" is the same song as Belita Woods indemand Moira recording, but Gloria's version is a bit more edgy to my ears and if this isn't enough, it's also 10 times cheaper.

Two great 60's group soul sides back to back on one of Don Robey's legendary Texas labels. Don Robey was a notorious gangster, who used his labels to white wash his funny money and even though he got writing credits on almost every record he released (and he released plenty), he wasn't able to play an instrument or read music.

"Losin' Boy" was Eddy Giles first secular record and it sold well down south for an independent release. Nor surprise as it's a distinctive, catchy song with Eddy in top form. Extra clean copy on the "Losin Boy"-side, flipside has mild marks, but plkays clean.

Two great 60's group soul sides back to back on one of Don Robey's legendary Texas labels. Don Robey was a notorious gangster, who used his labels to white wash his funny money and even though he got writing credits on almost every record he released (and he released plenty), he wasn't able to play an instrument or read music.
