Dobber Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 (edited) I have to say that its not very often i see a record on rarenorthernsoul.com at a reasonable price! they have listed this piece of mega rare magic at 3k and its mint too! ive had the multicloured version in the past which is bloody rare, but the red copy is up there with the rarest and such a quality tune! And in todays crazy market 3k looks very reasonable indeed! Edited November 23, 2021 by Dobber 1
Reforee Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 The sound file to this red copy sounds flat/subdued to my ears compared to the multi coloured copy where all the arrangements are in your face or is it just the soundclip on the site? 1

The multicoloured version is vinyl,i suspect the red label version is styrene, and maybe a dull sounding styrene! But i do know what you mean!

As you may well know, the Combinations later became the M.V.P.s. It was revealed in an interesting article about them on S.S. several years ago. Edited November 23, 2021 by D9 Ktf 1

Wheelsville1 Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 It is also thought that Emory Harris of Emory and the dynamics on peachtree was a member of the combinations on kimtone.
Garrison Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I have a vynal red issue, plays and sounds great

Not sure if it was one they got from Richard Searling along with CODs and other Combinations. @Modernsoulsucks

Probably swapped it for some UK Drifters on Arista. Obviously liked it [and still do] or wouldn't have kept it but to my ears it somehow sounded "draggy" as if backing should have been a jot faster to meld with the vocals. 1
Solidsoul Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Definitely played many times up at Allanton Shotts allnighters. Although a lot of dj's and punters used to travel up there from England. I was one of them.
Greety Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Did'nt Richard play this at Wigan c/u as Tee Fletcher? Or is my memory worse than I thought.
Blackpoolsoul Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 (edited) Did anyone find out who owned the label, (I know some don't care) perhaps I missed it. I spotted the P.O. Box address in Atlanta and it appears to be the same as Elation Records and Esprit Records Edited November 24, 2021 by Blackpoolsoul

Blackpoolsoul Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 (edited) Actually it was discussed some years back and the contributors were very informative Maybe Kim Stacy was our label owner ? Edited November 24, 2021 by Blackpoolsoul
