Winsford Soul Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Thank you for posting as always Gwen Owens. Always wanted one from the very first time I heard it. Station road anthem, always been way to expensive even way back in the black and white days of the 70,s Wouldn't have been surprised if it had gone £8000. Love it. Ruben Howell. Carl Carlton. Love both versions but surely only £100 for Ruben . Carl Carlton from £40/ £50 probably leaning towards Ruben,s version as it was the first one I heard . But hey what do I know. Ste 1

Ste Have to agree with your valuation of Rueben Howell. It has sold for a tone or so consistently. Of the buyer had asked on line in wants he’d have got one for around that too. £500, he’s taken leave of his senses. Just buy the Lp for £20 or so and get other tracks as well. 1
Frankie Crocker Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 The Gwen Owens had a nasty skip. Surely that would be off-putting? If the white demo plays without skipping, surely it’s worth waiting for a copy to come up for sale. Guess I’ll stick with the styrene boot bought in 1976. 1
Scooterboy Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Freddie Houston...how muckin' fuch? Rueben Howell too... My ghast is flabbered. 2

I reckon if I had the money I would of bought it, slight skip or not. If a white demo comes up would buy that as well and move the issue on....all a dream of course....like you Frankie, will stick with my 70,s boot....Rob 1
Popular Post Dobber Posted November 10, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 10, 2021 Whilst im a fan of the shrine output, and had many of the TOP ones! Whoever paid 3.2k for the enjoyables is a loon! Neilb Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Hey Chris Freddie Houston - for something 57 years old and one of the greatest soul records ever made (imho) it was ok. And its miles better than your Muriel Day and the Sharonettes c/u !
Steve G Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) Blimey Wednesday evening comes round quickly Not surprised about Gwen Owens. Edited November 10, 2021 by Steve G
Ian Parker Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 if i put my Reuben Howell up for 200, id be laughed at ... who on earth has bought that? total madness 2
Baz Atkinson Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 La Shawn Collins very surprised and Rueben I actually think the issue is harder ? I thought Gwen might hit the magic £10k mark and Freddie Houston demo a tad surprised at but there again I ain’t seen many at all ? 1
Tomangoes Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Poetic justice though....play Gwen Owens on a fancy dan stylus with just the right balance and pounds per square inch...pressure, and the flaw will make a great screech. Play it on a fidelity all things to all men easy on easy off arm...and it plays a treat! Good job they ironed out the flaw on the pressing:) Ed 1

Speak soon.
Douglaschip Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Amazed at Reuban Howell - think demo is more common than issue and no picture sleeve on this one was there?? I still think this is pretty common - MADNESS!! 1

They are called Mint records as they make John a mint hence the saying, ‘well and truly minted’. 4
