Popular Post Soulfulsolutions Posted October 25, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 25, 2021 A double sider of immense proportions, which must be one of the best record box and dance floor fillers to own for 2 of the scenes most notable classics. Sound files on request. PM any questions of offers. Willie Hutch – Love runs out / The duck – Victor 1637 M- OFFERS I’ve been lucky enough to own a US west coast stock copy, a couple of east coast demos, and if I ever stumble across the French RCA I won’t be disappointed, but for me apart from the east coast stocker the Japanese is the rarest of all the formats unless I ever see “with my own eyes” a rumored Canadian Sparton release!!! But I think the latter’s a bit like my search for Sidney Barnes – I hurt on the other side – Red Bird issue, I’d like to think they exist and would like someone to prove they do? Gauntlet down to those that may be hoarding one….. To think, I was less than a year old when Willie penned these 2 tracks and along with the brilliant Gene Page and Lou Adler they brought these 2 quintessential Northern tracks together on one slab of plastic. We all know Hutch has provided us with some very collectable tunes, but his involvement in the music industry surpassed his own recording career, for example being hauled out of bed in the dead of night by Motown’s Hal Davis to help compose a track that Berry Gordy didn’t like. By the deadline of 8am that morning the Jackson 5’s “I’ll be there” fronted by a 12 year old Michael Jackson was destined to become the biggest selling Motown single at the time. Gordy hired Hutch, who for over 20 years influenced some of the biggest names Hitsville had on the books. I retain my own copy; it came from the Philippines, but that was some time ago and it’s taken me many years to track another down just so I could offer this resplendent piece of art up to the Soul scene. Mint minus Japanese Victor (RCA) tri-center complete with its beautifully colourful and mesmeric birth sleeve and pop pickers lyric sheet. Labels are clean and the uncanny Spitfire 3 blade propeller like centre intact. Minimum offer £2000. Will run until Monday 1st November at 9pm UK unless I like one in between.
