Hi Mel In 40 years things happen to records, finding a Mint copy gets harder. The more I think about it, it never made much sense as I bought it with the replacement centre. It wasn't like record players were geared up to this. It might have been in a Jukebox I suppose. Anyway here are another two with their centres intact, not rare but Oh the memories. Guest mel brat Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I remember reading about The Wheel closing just after I'd started buying Blues & Soul on a regular basis, however I'd heard Bobby Wells (on the white re-issue) at a local pub disco... Still love it to bits, and have maybe come to appreciate these period gems even more in recent years! (How I wish I'd tracked down more of them when I had the chance - but then don't we all...!) I've still got a soft spot for UK labels I must admit. I think it's a generational thing...

Guest mel brat Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Was jimmy Robbins actually played at the wheel a few wheel mates of mine swear it wasnt then it came out on a cd of the wheel. Great record all the same. It is a great record and I love it, though I personally only heard it sometime around 1974. I asked a few people about it (including Colin Curtis) and none of them mentioned it as having been a Wheel spin. I think that the import copies were too widely available for it to get spins in the 70's. As far as I know, it WASN'T played at the Wheel, despite being a "UK issue" on President, however I wasn't there so...

I still play this when I want to get the "feel" of the Sixties clubs (as I imagine them!) and it's always on my "sixties club" tapes. So exciting.
