Just bought this sensational 4 track E.P off John Manship off Ebay with buy it now as it appears with several others that have been snapped up as soon as they have been listed. Dont know how many he has but my advice is get in there quickly before they are all gone. This has to be the buy of the year. Detroit perfection.

Brilliant EP...and I can't recommend it enough. Already seen some go through eBay for £50ish even though John has them on his site! Get one before he sells out....

They originated from Gil Petard who has been at the helm of soul releases in France for over 4 decades.

First 50 were PROMO only copies Gil insisted on DJs only should own copies and gave them between 6 and 3 months, and Gil fixed the price.

Recently I got 250 stock copies BUT NOTE at least 25% of those had one 45 pressed seriously off center.

The price of £19 is again fixed by Gil Petard, it is a 2 record set inside a neat special sized picture sleeve.

My advice would be, grab one ASAP. To produce this 45 was very expensive and I don't think Gil will be pressing more once the intial batch run out.

I am unable to wholesale any so we are the only UK outlet to have them in stock.

FOUR KILLER tune 2 discs in a unique special sleeve and an import from France less than £20 to me seems pretty fair.

Remember there were only 300 of Ty Karim on Ebony and people moaned and groaned @ £6.00 then £10 for them in the late 80s. Now it would sell quickly, in excess of £100 . Same with Moses Smith - Try My Love - over 1000 of them pressed selling for £40+ already.

With 25% of the batch faulty I'd strongly suggest you grab your copy Quick.. we are running low on our remaining stock.

To hear it or buy it here's the link.

On what planet?

On what planet?

on "Mad Manship" planet, only occupied by seniel old fart record dealers!

sold it in Sept 06 £100 to C. Stanley and another customer J. Kent # 14379 has left his name just in case we get another..so we got an instant sale for the same price.

As yet, another copy has not surfaced..

C'mon Pete get up to speed..

I've got one & i think it's absolutely superb, four amazing tracks & lovely packaging with a great cover!

My question is do peeps think it's ok to play all four tracks out at dos considering two were officially released on a Kapp 45 & does the fact Gil has licensed them properly make them acceptable to play as proper issues?

You must work some kind of voodoo on your customers as half of them don't seem to know what they're doing - see the post above where someone's saying he had one for months he couldn't sell. But if you would let me use the phrase Mad Manship without it causing offense it would benefit me greatly on the numerous occasions that you need advice on prices

had one in my sales box for £25 for over a year, listed it on ebay twice & both times it went unsold, ended up letting it go for £15 a couple of months ago

I need to get out more and get into these sales boxes..

Only 300 were ever made..

I had over 1000 copies of the original Epitome Of Sound - Sandbag..I think John Anderson had similar, as did Tim Ashibende had tons of them as did countless other dealers.. just a case of supply and demand. 300 is a drop in the ocean on this scene.

Sorry to put a spaniard in the works but doesn't September Jones sound just a tad MOR? Backing tracks are nice though.

Tone (this one, not that one)

No! IMHO.

She does sound a bit like Lorraine Chandler though to these ears.

Hi Simon,

good to see you saturday but sorry didn't get a chance to chat much.

In answer to your question imo it has to be a big NO, the released bits should be played on original, people have paid fair amounts of dosh to own & play it out. As good or bad as it may be it is just another re-issue. The unreleased stuff ? On the one hand I tend to think no problem but where do you draw the line ? You could of course play a whole set of unreleased stuff. All depends on your way of thinking. There are those who will disagree & thats up to them but as far as I'm concerned if originals exist then thats the way to go

Nice to see you also Dave, hopefully have more of a chat next time out & about.

I sorta agree with what you've written, interesting point about the amount of dosh because i paid £50 for the SJ EP & i know when 'I'm coming home' started getting plays about 10 years ago it was about £50 so you could've theoretically paid the same price for both 45s.

'Give me all your love' is unissued but Dave Flynn used to play it off of an acetate so is it ok to play this from this EP?

Ouch  ha ha I'm backing into a corner now! Once again some/most will say if people have paid big money for an acetate should others be playing re issues? I think if acetates exist then the answer is No! It's all a matter of opinion isn't it? All i will say is that I know someone who paid a fair bit of money for an unreleased acetate only track which soon after was issued on a cd compilation & was mightily pizzed off to hear someone playing out a vinyl cut from the cd of said acetate, & i for one don't blame him !

Cue the story of Butch,(not sure of the accuracy tho?) hearing someone playing a cut of one of his exclusives & storming onto the stage & taking the offending item off & frisbeeing it across the stage. 'nuff said

Yes now that you've stepped back into the murky world of Londons Northern scene try & get up to Solid Hit on 16th, you'll love it mate especially with Maria & Carl Willingham to entertain us + Thameslink all the way

Will try & make it Dave, i don't finish work now till 6 so it's a bit more awkward, if i lived in London i'd be at every single one, no question.

Think Frynn had it dubbed off tapes, not sure if an acetate exists? In which case its probably fair game to play it off the EP (which is great), but then every Tom Dick & Harriot will be hammering it until anyone with any brain cells will be utterly fed up hearing it and another good record will have become unlistenable.

"Think Frynn had it dubbed off tapes, not sure if an acetate exists?"

According to Gil there is NO original acetate, and he can't understand how Dave Flynn played it out has he only let him have a small "Part" of each song on cassette. Maybe Dave "lengthened" the snippet to made an acetate.

No harm done, 'cause Dave made the unissued tracks known. But I think you'll find the unissued cuts on the 45 are "different" and in their FULL form on the 2record set.

The instrumental break in "I'm With You" is particually awesome and I don't think Dave's "version" will have had that on it, because full recordings were not available to him.

Perhaps Dave will be kind enough to correct me if I've got Gil's version of events wrong.

Yes agree Mr T, fair game to play it if no acetate & as you say everyone will hammer it until

See you next friday mate, do you have yer rowing boat ready

Did you get hotel sorted ? There's a Travel Inn 5 minute walk up Euston Road........ looks a bit ropey tho'!

No idea, he wouldn't ever tape it for me so I haven't got a copy of his dub to compare, will ask him when I next speak with him.

Completely 100% true. It was a DJ playing an acetate copy of 'Man Oh Man' Walter & The Admerations at Winsford. I was there when he did it. (But I wasn't the DJ !)
