Costas Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 (edited) JOYCE BOND - Mrs. Soul (Airborne) What a record; What a dancer ! A-side is almost scat vocal over a sparse but energetic beatnik-style drum backing. Backed with lovely jazzy Mod popcorn gem Definitely a top quality Mod Jazzy Popcorn double sider Condition: promo copy, nice and solid VG to VG+ Price: £45 Listen the actual sound clips below: https://app.box.com/s/0ynvknj7ulouhkc0qyrzed8amwjyrkhy https://app.box.com/s/i6l4lgm0ku8s8jnh0t7imko34gc8oebu CORA WASHINGTON - What Can I Do / Cold Blooded Women (MJ) I really love this 45 record cause of the AMAZING tune on the a-side. ''Cold Blooded Woman'' is a nice groovy R&B Mod Funk dancer but the winner for me is the FANTASTIC emotional doomy blues gem ''What Can I Do'' from the obscure Cora Washington which is well constructed and very well performed. I like the short rap very much and that strange noise that weaves in and out behind her (an electric tenor sax??). The bass voice at the start is the much better known Will “Dub” Jones, who is best remembered as the bass voice in all those Coasters “playlets” that Leiber and Stoller wrote for them. Cheapie record but it sounds as the biggie one ! Essential 45 record This 45 first appeared on MJ which Jones ran with Lloyd McCraw, who was in the Cadets with him and this pressing seems to be the rarer one Condition: nice and solid VG Price: sold Listen the actual sound clips below: https://app.box.com/s/72ncb5o7llzw04jx6pn6u3gd7f5m4r3r https://app.box.com/s/x95ypof5bao0xiet2wa328oxm22brop2 EMERSONS - Lonliness (United Artists) Underestimated '61 awesome R&B Mod Doo Woop dancer!
