Pete S Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 (edited) Once upon a time, these tracks were at the top of the heap - amongst the biggest sounds of the day - but now they are kept out of view, at the back of record boxes and on dusty shelves, never to be removed from their sleeves. Why? Have a listen to some of the biggest Northern Soul tracks of the 70's and decide whether they should remain in Oldies Oblivion! https://www.raresoul.co.uk/wordpress/?page_id=11 Edited February 5, 2007 by Pete-S
Guest Polyvelts Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 'Supership' is bloody awesome, wish sounds like this were still played occasionally today, from when sounds were played cos they were FUNKY !! , still in those days you still got mardy sods moaning about ' that funky shit ' so no change there. I'm 45 fat and bald and can still stomp all the way thru it - but then I never had any 'taste' (Whatever that is !). Great to hear 'Branded' after a couple of decades, but perhaps 'Out of my mind' could stay in the box for another decade or 2 !!! Rob

People's opinions. I personally think Branded is terrible and I like Out Of My Mind but so what! Have to say I really enjoyed playing some of those.

Nocker Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Pete Just been listening to "oblivion" at work, thanks. Boy the memories come flooding back, Wigan, The Mecca, The Ritz Manchester and loads of local do's around Manchester at the time. Actually i have palyed a couple at Denton Britsih legion over thre last few months. High Voltage, Three Degree's, Mike Post, they didn't get much support, shame!!! but I'm affraid the others will have to stay in a box in the cellar.. Who knows sometime in the future some enterprising young sod will "discover" George Bad Benson, Rain, Robert Knight and Johnny Williams and give them the support they deserve Cheers John
Pete S Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 Oh Pete! FABULOUS IMPACTS - BABY I WANT YOU!!!! That is excellent - totally love the harmonies It's actually by The Moments on Hog Karen but when it was discovered I don't think the artist name was on the acetate so they called it Fabulous Impacts and it came out on a Kent anniversary single. It's a different version to the actual release (better in fact). The 45 on Hog is a four figure job
Guest Leigh J Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 JOHNNY VANELLI - SEVEN DAYS OF LOVING YOU Brilliant , Awesome Record
