Markw Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Can't fault Frankie & Johnny for an evergreen oldie. For somebody who friends (and others) have accused have disliking oldies, I could list loads of them. Always loved the Spellbinders, "Help Me", Maurice Williams "Being Without You" and The Inticers "Since You Left". Fondest one though is Little Anthony "Better Use Your Head".
Guest Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Fondest one though is Little Anthony "Better Use Your Head". link Agree on Little Anthony, takes me back 30 years, still a brilliant dancer.
Pete S Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 (edited) Current favourite oldies: howard tate - you're looking good - utopia bobs band - lockes theme - atco volcanos - laws of love p.s. if you've got a minute have a go at this Helicopter pilot (my best distance 1026) Edited December 17, 2004 by Pete-S

Paulb Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 i love oldies. They are the tracks that i remember most from growing up and my dad having them on all the time. With being new to the scene oldies are like newies for me so im not fed up of hearing them like most of you will be. That means that its pretty hard for me to dislike any night i go to( unless its rnb!!!)! Loved the hemsby weekender cos i got to hear a lot of oldies that normally dont get played very often.

jazzyjas Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 Right now, mine is... I CAN'T ESCAPE FROM YOU-RITCHIE ADAMS Killer track. I've been playing this one in the car at least a few times every day lately. Such a tight production, I think. Gets me in the mood to dance every time. I can only imagine hearing this fill the room at Wigan. Must have been great for all of you... Got a nice northern soul DVD "The Magic Touch" from Andy Holroyd of Notts that has Carl (Mr. "Soul Time" himself) doing some nice dance moves to that song. I met Carl at the LA Weekender and my dancing skills immediately improved having him around, along with his encouragement. Great guy that I'm sure many of you know, along with Andy Holroyd. KTF Jas

Reminds me of a conversation I had with someone about Volcanoes - Laws of Love. They said it never got played. I was fed up of hearing it. That's probably because it's our mate's favourite and he asks for it nearly every time he goes out. Gaye

"Eyes so pretty and a dog gone pity that theres only one of her and she happens to be mine- Let me tell you shes Fine, Fine - Fine" Got my copy from Nancy who was in Sacramento at the time- She sent it to me as a present as I had split with the wife after 10 years of marriage but the record actually reminds me of Beverly Griffiths who was my girlfriend back in the 70s.
